Jack Brabham
Sir John Arthur Brabham (2 April 1926 – 19 May 2014) was an Australian racing driver who was Formula One World Champion in , , and . He was a founder of the Brabham racing team and race car constructor that bore his name. Brabham was a Royal Australian Air Force flight mechanic and ran a small engineering workshop before he started racing midget cars in 1948. His successes with midgets in Australian and New Zealand road racing events led to his going to Britain to further his racing career. There he became part of the Cooper Car Company's racing team, building as well as racing cars. He contributed to the design of the mid-engined cars that Cooper introduced to Formula One and the Indianapolis 500, and won the Formula One world championship in 1959 and 1960. Racing career CART He raced successfully in CART early in his career, finishing 8th in 1982, 1984 and 1987 with nine podiums. In ten appearances in the Indianapolis 500, he had a best result of fourth in 1983 and fifth in 1981. The Miss Pennsylvania USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Pennsylvania in the Miss USA pageant. It has been previously known as Miss Pennsylvania Universe. This pageant is independently conducted and produced by Proctor Productions based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Danny Brabham (February 25, 1941 – January 22, 2011) was an American football player who played collegiately at linebacker for the University of Arkansas, and for six seasons in the American Football League (AFL) for the Houston Oilers and the Cincinnati Bengals. Brabham died in his home in Prairieville, Louisiana, on January 22, 2011. Doris Brabham Hatt (24 September 1890 – 27 August 1969), a painter and printmaker, was a pioneer of Modernism in Britain. Biography Early life Doris Brabham Hatt was born in 1890 into a well known and affluent Bath family that ran a successful wig-making, hairdressing and perfumery business. She was the daughter of William Edward Hatt (1861-1916) and Mary Emily Hatt (née Brabham) (1862–1929), who was a music teacher and Professor of Pianoforte. Her older sister, Rayonette Dagmar Hatt (1889–1911) died young, and she also had a younger brother, Richard William Hatt (1893–1933), who became a journalist. Doris's parents and sister are buried at St Mary the Virgin, Bathwick, Smallcombe Cemetery. Henry Brabham
Henry Brabham IV (April 29, 1929 – March 30, 2020) was a founder of the ECHL, formerly known as the East Coast Hockey League. In 2008, he was inducted into the inaugural class of the ECHL Hall of Fame. The Brabham Cup, first awarded in 1989, is an ECHL award for the team that finishes with the best regular season record. He bought the Salem Raiders of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League in 1982 and renamed them the Virginia Raiders. He failed to get a long-term lease with the Salem Civic Center, so he disbanded the Raiders after the 1982–83 season. The ACHL then convinced Brabham to take over the Nashville South Stars during the following season, which he relocated back to Salem in December 1983 as the Virginia Lancers, named after his chain of convenience stores.
