Baron Brabazon of Hill of Tara, Tara, of Sandwich, Kent, Sandwich in the County of Kent, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 27 April 1942 for the aviation pioneer and Conservative Party (UK), Conservative politician John Moore-Brabazon, 1st Baron Brabazon of Tara, John Moore-Brabazon. Moore-Brabazon was a descendant through a female line of Edward Brabazon, 7th Earl of Meath, The 7th Earl of Meath. His father, Major (British Army and Royal Marines), Major John Arthur Henry Moore, had assumed the additional surname of Brabazon in 1866 by Royal Licence. the title is held by the first Baron's grandson, the third Baron, who succeeded his father in 1974. James Brabazon
James Martin Brabazon (born 18 February 1972), is a British documentary filmmaker, journalist, and author. Brabazon is best known for his work in conflict situations. He first gained attention as the only journalist to film the LURD rebel group fighting to overthrow President Charles Taylor during the Second Liberian Civil War. While in Liberia, Brabazon encountered South African mercenary Nick du Toit and hired him as his bodyguard. Brabazon’s memoir ''My Friend the Mercenary'' recounts his experiences of the Liberian civil war, his friendship with du Toit, and du Toit’s subsequent role in the failed Equatorial Guinea coup attempt. Ivon Anthony Moore-Brabazon, 3rd Baron Brabazon of Tara, (born 20 December 1946), is a British Conservative politician. Early life Lord Brabazon attended Harrow School. He married Harriet Frances de Courcy Hamilton in 1979, with whom he had a son and a daughter. He has worked in the London Stock Exchange and the freight industry. Political career House of Lords He sat in the House of Lords as a Conservative and from 1984 to 1986 was a House of Lords whip in Margaret Thatcher's government. He then became a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Transport, holding that post until 1989. Derek Charles Moore-Brabazon, 2nd Baron Brabazon of Tara (24 December 1910 – 11 December 1974), succeeded the title Baron Brabazon of Tara in 1964 on the death of his father, John Cuthbert Moore-Brabazon, 1st Baron Brabazon of Tara, carrying it for just ten years until his death in 1974. Life He was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge. An active Conservative, he was a councillor in Kensington, 1948–56, Chairman of the South Kensington Conservative Association 1952–54 and chairman of London Conservative Union, 1957–58. After the end of his tenure, he was appointed to the Order of the British Empire as a Commander (CBE) in the 1960 New Year Honours for "political and public services in London". Peter Glenville (born Peter Patrick Brabazon Browne; 28 October 19133 June 1996) was an English film and stage actor and director. Biography Born in Hampstead, London, into a theatrical family, Glenville was the son of Shaun Glenville (born John Browne, 1884–1968), an Irish-born comedian, and Dorothy Ward, both pantomime performers. Tara Brabazon (born 3 January 1969) is Dean of Graduate Research and Professor of Cultural Studies at Charles Darwin University, in Darwin, Australia, moving from the same position at Flinders University in 2023. She has previously held academic positions in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, won six teaching awards, published 20 books, and written 250 refereed articles and contributed essays and opinion pieces on higher education and the arts. Sir Roger Brabazon ( 1247 – 13–14 June 1317) was an England, English lawyer, and Chief Justice of the King's Bench from 1296 to 1316. Little is known of his background, he was the son of William le Brabazon, and may have been born at Mowsley in Leicestershire in or before 1247. Knighted in 1268, Sir Roger was in the service of Edmund Crouchback, 1st Earl of Lancaster, Edmund of Lancaster from 1275, and through Edmund's patronage he started receiving judicial commissions from the mid-1280s. In 1290, after Ralph de Hengham had been dismissed from the Court of King's Bench (England), King's Bench, Brabazon was hired as a junior justice. Reginald Brabazon, 13th Earl Of Meath
Brigadier-General Reginald Le Normand Brabazon, 13th Earl of Meath CBE, DL (24 November 1869 – 10 March 1949), known as Lord Ardee from 1887 to 1929, was an Anglo-Irish soldier. Brabazon was the eldest son of Reginald Brabazon, 12th Earl of Meath, and Lady Mary Jane Maitland. He married Lady Aileen May Wyndham-Quin, daughter of Wyndham Thomas Wyndham-Quin, 4th Earl of Dunraven, and Florence Elizabeth Kerr, on 12 February 1908 at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks. Educated at Wellington College, he was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards in 1889. He served in the Second Boer War from 1899–1902 and was decorated with the Queen's Medal, three clasps, and the King's Medal, two clasps. Reginald Brabazon, 12th Earl Of Meath
Reginald Brabazon, 12th Earl of Meath, (31 July 1841 – 11 October 1929) was an Irish politician and philanthropist. The Honourable Reginald Brabazon was born into an old Anglo-Irish family in London, the second son of William Brabazon, 11th Earl of Meath and Harriot Brooke. When his father succeeded to the Earldom in 1851, Reginald, now the heir (his elder brother, Jacques, died of diphtheria in 1844), was styled Lord Brabazon. He was educated at Eton College and in 1863 joined the Foreign Office as a clerk, and later became a diplomat. In 1868 he married Lady Mary Jane Maitland, daughter of the 11th Earl of Lauderdale. On the insistence of his in-laws, Brabazon refused to accept a posting to Athens (which they considered too remote) in 1873 and was effectively suspended without pay, finally resigning from the Diplomatic Service in 1877. Hercules Brabazon Brabazon (born Hercules Brabazon Sharpe; 27 November 1821 – 14 May 1906) was an English artist, accomplished in Turner-manner watercolours. Life and work Brabazon was the younger son of Hercules Sharpe and his wife, Anne Mary, the daughter of Sir Anthony Brabazon, 1st Bt. Initially raised in Paris, he moved with his family to Oaklands, an estate near Sedlescombe, East Sussex, in 1832. He attended Harrow School, the École Privat, Geneva, and Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating with a B.A. in mathematics in 1844. His father then wanted him to study law, but instead he left England and went to Rome to study music and art, enrolling at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Accademia di San Luca. Brabazon is a British mixed-use development located on land on the former Filton Airfield in South Gloucestershire, and is a new extension to the northern fringe of Bristol. Background The former airfield site has been earmarked by South Gloucestershire Council for 2,675 new homes. In 2019, YTL Corporation was announced as the major developer of the site including the Bristol Arena. Construction on the first homes is due to begin in 2020 with first residents arriving in 2021.
