Božo Nikolić
Božo Nikolić (22 September 1946 – 17 November 2010) was a Montenegrin Croat sea captain and politician from Montenegro, and one of the founders of Croatian Civic Initiative. He was a member of Croatian Confraternity Bokelj Navy 809. Nikolić was born in Gornja Lastva in Tivat municipality, Bay of Kotor. Croats Of Montenegro
The Croats have a minority in Boka Kotorska (''Bay of Kotor''), a coastal region in Montenegro, the largest of their kind in Tivat. The three municipalities making up the Bay of Kotor ( Tivat, Kotor and Herceg-Novi) include 4,519 Croats or 6.70%. They are also known as Bokelji, a common name for all inhabitants for of Boka Kotorska. Tivat is home to the minority political party Croatian Civic Initiative, and to the ''National Council of Croats in Montenegro''. Kotor is home to Croatian Civic Society of Montenegro. The Croatian Civic Initiative ( Croatian/ Montenegrin: ''Hrvatska građanska inicijativa'', HGI, Montenegrin Cyrillic: Хрватска грађанска иницијатива, ХГИ) is a political party of the Croat minority in Montenegro. History The party was formed in 2002. It first participated in local elections in Tivat municipality that year, and established its headquarters in this town. HGI has best electoral results in Boka region, because the Croat minority is concentrated mostly in municipalities of Tivat and Kotor. Marija Vučinović was party president from 2006, until 2019. Coalition For European Montenegro
The European Montenegro ( cnr, Европскa Црна Горa, script=Cyrl, cnr, Evropska Crna Gora, label=none, script=Latn; abbr. ECG) was the ruling political alliance in Montenegro headed by Milo Đukanović's Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS). Following the internal turmoil within the DPS during late 1996 and early 1997 when the party's most prominent members Đukanović and Momir Bulatović bitterly fought behind the scenes for the control of the party, Đukanović emerged as the clear winner of the year-long power struggle. Under his leadership, DPS began entering pre-election alliances with smaller parties under the coalition banner that had a different name ahead of each parliamentary election. 2006 Montenegrin Parliamentary Election
Constitutional Assembly elections were held in the newly-independent Republic of Montenegro on 10 September 2006. Prime Minister Milo Đukanović's Coalition for a European Montenegro (based around the Democratic Party of Socialists) won a majority in Parliament, winning 41 of the 81 seats. The opposition blocs together won 34 seats; 12 for the Serb List (SL) and 11 each for the Socialist People's Party (SNP)-led list and the Movement for Changes (PzP). Other seats were won by parties representing national minorities. As the opposition conceded defeat, DPS leader Đukanović stated "These elections showed that Montenegro is stable and firm on its European path."
