David Boys
David Boys or Boschus (died 1461), Carmelite, was educated at Oxford University, and lectured in theology at that university; he also visited for purposes of study the University of Cambridge and several foreign universities. Frank Boys
Frank Cecil Boys (21 June 1918 − 27 March 2003) was an English first-class cricketer and Royal Navy officer. Life, naval career and first-class cricket Boys was born at Kensington and was educated at Dartmouth Naval College, graduating into the Royal Navy shortly before Second World War. He was promoted to the rank of sub-lieutenant in February 1939, with seniority antedated to May 1938. He served in the navy in the war, during which he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in May 1940. In the later stages of the war he was mentioned in dispatches in November 1944 and December 1945. Following the war, Boys made his debut in first-class cricket for the Combined Services cricket team against the touring South Africans at Portsmouth in 1947. He played first-class cricket for the Combined Services until 1951, making seven appearances. He scored a total of 273 runs in his seven first-class matches, at an average of 21.00. Thomas Boys
Thomas Boys (1792–1880) was an Anglican priest and theologian. Life His father was Rear-admiral Thomas Boys of Kent. He was born at Sandwich, Kent, and educated at Tonbridge Grammar School and Trinity College, Cambridge. The failure of his health from over-study prevented his taking more than the ordinary degrees (B.A. 1813, M.A. 1817), and, finding an active life necessary to him, he entered the army with a view to becoming a military chaplain, was attached to the military chest in the Peninsula under Wellington in 1813, and was wounded at the battle of Toulouse in three places, gaining the Peninsular Medal. He was ordained deacon in 1816, and priest in 1822. He established a reputation as a Hebrew scholar, being teacher of Hebrew to Jews at the college, Hackney, from 1830 to 1832, and professor of Hebrew at the Missionary College, Islington, in 1836. Thomas Shotter Boys
Thomas Shotter Boys (1803–1874) was an English watercolour painter and lithographer. Life Boys was born at Pentonville, London, on 2 January 1803. He was articled to the engraver George Cooke. When his apprenticeship came to an end he went to Paris where he met and came under the influence of Richard Parkes Bonington, who persuaded him to abandon engraving for painting. Some sources describe him as a pupil of Bonington, although William Callow, who later shared a studio with him in Paris, disputed this. He exhibited at the Royal Academy for the first time in 1824, and in Paris in 1827. In 1830 he went to Brussels, but returned to England on the outbreak of the revolution there. Paying another visit to Paris, he remained there until 1837, and then returned to England in order to lithograph the works of David Roberts and Clarkson Stanfield.
