Boyle GAA ( Irish: ''CLG Mainistir na Búille'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Boyle, County Roscommon. The club was founded in 1889 and plays in maroon and white. History In 1889, Roscommon's first county convention took place in Boyle, where its county board was first founded. Five Boyle clubs were represented at the convention, Knockarush, Lowparks, Owen Roes, Tawnytaskin and Democrats. In 1890 the Boyle 'Young Irelanders' won the clubs first Senior championship. In 1927 Boyle, represented by 18th Infantry Battalion based in the town, won a county double, with victories in the Roscommon Senior Football Championship and Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship. For the rest of the century, Boyle competed at Junior and Intermediate grades, with victories in the Roscommon Intermediate Football Championship in 1983, 1994 and 2005 being followed by demotion from the senior championship. Boyle (; ) is a town in County Roscommon, Ireland. It is located at the foot of the Curlew Mountains near Lough Key in the north of the county. Roscommon Senior Football Championship
The Roscommon Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in County Roscommon. The winners of the Roscommon Championship receive the Fahey Cup and qualify to represent their county in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. The 2021 Championship was won by Padraig Pearses who defeated Clann na nGael by a score of 2-08 to 0-11. Roscommon representatives have gone on to win the Connacht title on thirteen occasions. Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship
The Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Roscommon GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Roscommon, Ireland. Since 2008, the champions qualify to the Connacht Intermediate Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. Before 2008, the Roscommon champions qualified for the Connacht Senior Club Hurling Championship. Four Roads are the title holders, defeating Padraig Pearses by 3-14 to 0-15 in the 2022 final. Strokestown GAA
Strokestown Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland. History The Strokestown club was founded on 13 October 1881, three years before the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. In 1889 the local landlord, a J. Walpole, was expelled, and the club refounded as ''Strokestown Brian Boru's''. Other clubs known as ''St Patrick's'' and ''Erin Go Breá'' were also founded. They were later unified under the St Patrick's name, and won eight county titles between 1912 and 1933. A ladies' team was founded in 1976. They did not win the county title again until 1992. St Brigid's GAA Club (''Naomh Bríd'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parishes of Kiltoom and Cam in South County Roscommon, Ireland. They play in green and red colours and their home pitch is at Newpark, Kiltoom. The club was founded in 1944 and is the home club of former Roscommon inter-county player Gerry O'Malley. The club has won one All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship, beating Ballymun Kickhams in the All-Ireland Club Final on St Patrick's Day, 17 March 2013. Enda Smith (born 6 August 1994) is a Gaelic footballer who plays at senior level for the Roscommon county team and is from Boyle, County Roscommon in Ireland. Career Smith plays his club football for the Boyle GAA club. While at university, he played for DCU where he won the Sigerson Cup in 2015 against UCC. During his university GAA matches, he formed a rivalry with UCC's Conor Cox who played county football for Kerry and later joined Smith at Roscommon.
