Boy (duo)
Boy (stylized BOY) is a Swiss–German pop duo founded in 2007 by Swiss singer Valeska Steiner and German bassist Sonja Glass. The two met while at a pop-music course at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in 2005. The band initially played concerts exclusively, before being discovered by and signed to Herbert Grönemeyer's label, Grönland Records, in 2011. Their debut album, ''Mutual Friends'' ( Gold-certified in Germany), was produced by Philipp Steinke and released in the autumn of 2011. The band sings entirely in English in a style reminiscent of that of Leslie Feist. In the UK, ''Mutual Friends'' was released by Decca in June 2012. The North American release of the album was in February 2013 on Nettwerk Records. Boy won the Hamburg Musician Prize HANS in 2011 in the category Hamburgs Newcomer of the Year, and their album ''Mutual Friends'' won the 2012 European Border Breakers Award (EBBA). The Kulturzentrum Schlachthof (literally: Cultural Center Slaughterhouse) in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany, is a cultural center in a complex which formerly housed the municipal slaughterhouse, approximately 500 meters southeast of the Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof railway station. The cultural center, known as Schlachthof, was founded in 1994. It offers two concert halls for events from 300 to 2,000 people; the large concert hall has an area of about 1,200 square meters. The location is used for concert in rock, metal and punk, for music parties, poetry slams and readings. It is surrounded by a leisure park. History The slaughterhouse closed in 1990 due to inefficiency and non-compliance with EC hygiene guidelines. In the following years, most of the abandoned buildings were torn down. "Little Numbers" is a song by Swiss-German pop duo BOY. It was written by band members Valeska Steiner and Sonja Glass for their debut studio album ''Mutual Friends'' (2011), while production was helmed by Philipp Steinke. The song was released as the band's debut single in August 2011. A folkish indie pop song, the uptempo track is built almost entirely on drums and piano. Lyrically, "Little Numbers" depicts its protagonist waiting for a call from their love interest, while killing time by daydreaming. The song gained significant popularity in German-speaking Europe after being featured in German airline Lufthansa's Business Class commercial in mid-2012.
