Boxwood Lodge
Boxwood Estate is a historic hunting retreat and national Historic district (United States), historic district located near Mocksville, North Carolina, Mocksville, Davie County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 8 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 4 contributing structures on a rural estate including a manor house. It was developed between 1911 and 1931 by William Rabb Craig (1870-1931), a wealthy cotton and sugar broker. The manor house was built between 1933 and 1934, and is a two-story, "H"-plan, brick Colonial Revival architecture, Colonial Revival dwelling designed by the architectural firm William Adams Delano, Delano & Aldrich. Other notable resources include the grounds of Boxwood Lodge, greenhouse (c. 1940), log cabin (1932-1933, 1940s), great barn (1910s), feed / grain house (c. 1940), and entrance piers (1934). Mocksville, North Carolina
Mocksville is a town in Davie County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,051 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Davie County. History Mocksville was incorporated as a town in 1839. The town was named for the original owner of the town site. George E. Barnhardt House, Boxwood Lodge, Cana Store and Post Office, Jesse Clement House, Cooleemee, Davie County Courthouse, Davie County Jail, Downtown Mocksville Historic District, Hinton Rowan Helper House, Hodges Business College, McGuire-Setzer House, North Main Street Historic District, and Salisbury Street Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography and geology Mocksville is located south of the center of Davie County. U.S. Routes 64 and 601 pass through the town, while U.S. Route 158 has its western terminus in the town center.
