Boxing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Heavyweight
The men's heavyweight boxing competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 1 to 11 August at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre. Fifteen boxers from 15 nations are competed. Competition format The competition consisted of a single-elimination tournament. Bronze medals were awarded to both semi-final losers. ExCeL London
ExCeL London (an abbreviation for Exhibition Centre London) is an exhibition centre, international convention centre and former hospital in the Custom House, Newham, Custom House area of London Borough of Newham, Newham, East London. Artur Asilbekovich Beterbiev ( ce, Арту́р Асильбе́кович Бетерби́ев russian: Артур Асильбекович Бетербиев; born 21 January 1985) is a Russian-Canadian professional boxer. Julio César Castillo Torres (born 10 May 1988) is an Ecuadorian amateur boxer. He won two medals at the Pan American Games: a bronze in 2007 and a silver in 2011. Yamil Alberto Peralta Jara (born July 16, 1991 in Tres de Febrero, Buenos Aires Province) is an Argentinian boxer who won Heavyweight Bronze at the PanAm Games 2011 and later qualified for the Olympics. Michael Hunter, Jr. (born July 10, 1988) is an American professional boxer who challenged for the WBO junior heavyweight title in 2017. As an amateur he won the National Championships as a super heavyweight in 2007 and 2009, and qualified for the 2012 Olympics in the heavyweight division.
