Boxing At The 1988 Summer Olympics – Lightweight
The men's lightweight event was part of the Boxing at the 1988 Summer Olympics, boxing programme at the 1988 Summer Olympics. The weight class allowed boxers of up to 60 kilograms to compete. The competition was held from 19 September to 1 October 1988. 39 boxers from 39 nations competed. Andreas Zülow won the gold medal. Jamsil Students' Gymnasium
Jamsil Students' Gymnasium () is an indoor sporting arena located in Seoul, South Korea. The capacity of the arena is 7,500 and was built from November 1972 to December 1976 to host Boxing events at the 1986 Asian Games and 2-years later the same sport on the 1988 Summer Olympics, and wheelchair basketball events at the 1988 Summer Paralympics. The arena's name is derived from the fact that it owned by the Korea University Sports Federation, and usually host university sports events, most notably the annual MBC Cup for college basketball teams. Events Jamsil has held a number of Esports events, including the StarCraft competitions the 2015 10th SonicTV Starleague and 2012 Tving OSL. Asif Kamran Dar (born April 16, 1966) is a former boxer from Pakistan, competing in the lightweight (– 60 kg) division. He was born in Quetta. A resident of Toronto, Ontario he represented Pakistan at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he was eliminated in the second round. Afterwards he competed for Canada, representing that country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea where he was also eliminated in the second round. He won the gold medal in the same weight division, two years earlier, at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, beating Welshman Neil Haddock in the final.
