''Box Office'' is the debut studio album by American drag performer and musician Aja, released on February 7, 2019. "Jekyll & Hyde" was released as a single to promote the album. Cupcakke, Lady Luck, Rico Nasty, and Shea Couleé are featured as guests. Background and release Aja first came to international recognition when she was announced as a competitor on the ninth season of the drag reality competition show ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' in 2017. Later that same year, Aja was announced as one of the competitors on the third season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'', which premiered in January 2018. After her two appearances on ''Drag Race'', Aja turned her attention to music and released several singles, culminating in the eventual release of her debut extended play, ''In My Feelings'' in May 2018. Venus Nadya Oshun, known professionally as Aja LaBeija, better known mononymously as Aja () (born January 4, 1994) is an American rapper, reality television personality and drag queen best known for competing on the ninth season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' and on the third season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars''. Aja released her debut EP, ''In My Feelings'', in 2018, followed by her debut studio album, ''BOX Office'', in February 2019. Her second EP, ''ALL CAPS'', was released in June 2019. RuPaul's Drag Race
''RuPaul's Drag Race'' is an American reality competition television series, the first in the ''Drag Race'' franchise, produced by World of Wonder for Logo TV (season 1–8), WOW Presents Plus, VH1 (season 9–14) and, beginning with the fifteenth season, MTV. The show documents RuPaul in the search for "America's next drag superstar". RuPaul plays the role of host, mentor, and head judge for this series, as contestants are given different challenges each week. Contestants are judged by a panel that includes RuPaul, Michelle Visage, an alternating third main judge of either Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews, or Ts Madison, and one or more guest judges, who critique their progress throughout the competition. Drag Queen
A drag queen is a person, usually male, who uses drag clothing and makeup to imitate and often exaggerate female gender signifiers and gender roles for entertainment purposes. Historically, drag queens have usually been gay men, and part of gay culture. People partake in the activity of ''doing drag'' for reasons ranging from self-expression to mainstream performance. Drag shows frequently include lip-syncing, live singing, and dancing. They occur at events like LGBT pride parades, carnivals and drag pageants and in venues such as cabarets and nightclubs. ''RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'' is an American reality competition spin off edition of the original ''RuPaul's Drag Race'', which is produced by World of Wonder, for Logo TV and later VH1. The show premiered on October 22, 2012, on Logo TV, before relocating to VH1. However, it was announced on February 20, 2020, on the show's official Twitter account that the fifth season would premiere on June 5, 2020, on Showtime. Following the cast announcement on May 8, 2020, producers announced that the show would remain airing on VH1 instead of Showtime due to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused "various scheduling and programming adjustments". On February 24, 2021, Paramount+ announced via Twitter that the streaming service would be the new home to the series for the sixth season. The third season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'' began airing on January 25, 2018. The season was announced in August 2017, and 9 of the 10 cast members were revealed during a VH1 television special titled "Exclusive Queen Ruveal," which aired on October 20, 2017. This season featured ten "All Star" contestants, selected from the show's first season through to its ninth season, who competed to be inducted into the "''Drag Race'' Hall of Fame". As in the previous season, the top two queens in the challenge compete in a "Lip Sync for Your Legacy," with the winner of the lip sync earning $10,000 and choosing which of the bottom queens gets eliminated. Jaren Kyei Merrell (born February 8, 1989), known professionally as Shea Couleé, is an American drag queen, musician, actor, podcaster, and fixture of the Chicago nightlife scene. Born in Warsaw, Indiana, they began their drag career in 2012. In 2017, Couleé achieved international fame after competing on season nine of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'', placing in the top four. In 2020, Couleé won the fifth season of '' RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars''. Couleé later returned to compete on the all-winners seventh season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'' in 2022. Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly (born May 7, 1997), known professionally as Rico Nasty, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Maryland. She rose to prominence in 2018 with singles such as "Smack a Bitch" and "Poppin". While in high school, Rico Nasty began self-releasing content in 2014 and had released five solo mixtapes by late 2017.
