Andy Bown
Andrew Steven Bown (born 27 March 1946) is an English musician, who has specialised in keyboards and bass guitar. He is a member of the rock band Status Quo. Career Bown's first major band was The Herd, along with Peter Frampton. After The Herd dissolved he spent two years with Judas Jump who were the opening act of the Isle of Wight Festival 1970. He played eyboards at firstfor Frampton in the 1970s then switched to bass briefly when Rick Wills departed the Peter Frampton band in early 1975. Bown himself left the Frampton entourage less than a year later, just as Frampton was on the verge of achieving worldwide success. He went back to England where he first dabbled with a solo career (recording two solo albums for Bill Gaff's GM label, US Mercury), then resumed work with Status Quo whom he started playing keyboards for in 1973 as a session musician, including sessions with Jerry Lee Lewis on the London Sessions Album. Archie Bown
Archie Bown (1882 – 19 August 1958) was a football inside left. Football career Born in Highworth, Wiltshire, Bown began his football career playing for the local Swindon Casuals team. It was here that Swindon Town spotted him and offered him a trial, playing one first team match in February 1904. Having not proved himself adequately he returned to his old team and his job as a turner and fitter in the Great Western Railway's Workshop. Bown returned to Swindon Town in 1907, signing a professional contract. He went on to score 9 goals in 16 appearances that season and regularly appeared on the scoresheet from then on. 1911/12 was his most prolific season for the club, when he scored 23 goals in Southern League matches. He was part of the team that from 1909–12 won the Dubonnet Cup and the Southern Charity Cup, whilst also becoming Runner's up of the Charity Shield and twice FA Cup semi-finalists. Chuck Bown
Richard Charles "Chuck" Bown Jr. (born February 22, 1954) is a former NASCAR champion. His last ride came in 1999. He lives with his wife in Asheboro, North Carolina. He is the brother of former fellow NASCAR competitor Jim Bown. 1970s Bown made his NASCAR debut in 1972 in the Winston Cup Series. At the age of seventeen, he ran the Winston Western 500 at Riverside International Raceway the No. 27 Plymouth owned by his father Dick. Bown started 22nd but finished 32nd that day after crashing on lap 88. Bown made 2 more starts in the No. 27 that year, with his best finish being fourteenth at the second Riverside race. In 1973, Bown returned to the Winston Cup Series driving his father's No. 03 Dodge, finishing in the top-10 for the first time in his career at the Tuborg 400 at Riverside. Heather Erin Bown (born November 29, 1978) is a retired volleyball player from the United States, who played as a middle-blocker. She represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. There she finished in fifth place with the USA national team. She also competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Bown made her third straight Olympic appearance in Beijing, helping Team USA to a silver medal. Early life and education Bown was born in Orange, California, and calls Yorba Linda, California home. Jane Hope Bown CBE (13 March 1925 – 21 December 2014) was an English photographer who worked for ''The Observer'' newspaper from 1949. Her portraits, primarily photographed in black and white and using available light, received widespread critical acclaim and her work has been described by Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, Lord Snowdon as "a kind of English Henri Cartier-Bresson, Cartier-Bresson." Jim Bown (born June 24, 1960) is an American former stock car racing driver. He has run a total of 23 Winston Cup Series races. He scored one top-ten result, a tenth-place finish at Riverside International Raceway in 1982. In the NASCAR Busch Series, he competed in 122 races, with four top-fives and one pole. John Young Bown (December 30, 1821 – September 26, 1890) was a physician and Canadian political figure. He was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1872. He was born in Dorsetshire, England, in 1821. He studied at the University of St Andrews and received a degree in medicine. He was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Paul Bown (born 11 October 1957) is an English actor. Acting career Bown is best known for playing a leading role in the Granada Television sitcom '' Watching'' (1987–1993) and ''Casualty'' in 2000 more recently as Philip Reid in BBC's ''Holby City''. Ralph Bown (1891 – July 1971) was a noted American radio pioneer. Bown was born in Fairport, New York, and received his M.E., M.M.E., and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University where he also taught physics. He served as a captain in the United States Army Signal Corps in World War I, where he led vacuum tube development as head of its radio laboratories technical department, then joined the American Telephone and Telegraph Company research department, which in 1934 became Bell Laboratories. Bown's work focused on electromagnetic propagation, particularly for radio broadcasting, ship-to-shore communication, aircraft radios, and intercontinental telephony. He was also an expert in radar, and served as a division member and consultant of the National Defense Research Committee and expert consultant to the Secretary of War; in 1941 he visited England to study radar in combat operations. Stuart Bown (born 24 August 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the Adelaide Crows and for Norwood in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Bown was recruited by Norwood from the West Broken Hill Robins and played a couple of seasons in the lower grades before making his league debut in 1999. He won the clubs Under 19's Best & Fairest award in 1997 as well as playing in the Redlegs SANFL U/19 Premiership the same year. He moved to the Reserves in 1998 and repeated his 1997 success by winning the Reserves Best & Fairest and playing in Norwood's SANFL Reserves Premiership.
