Bertie Bowler
Albert Bowler (born 1891) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. Career Bowler was born in Nottingham. He began his career while serving as a private in the British Army, playing for Army Cup winners Sherwood Foresters. He obtained his discharge from the Army in 1911, allowing him to join Southern League club Plymouth Argyle. He made his first team debut in a 1–0 win at New Brompton on 23 December 1911 and scored his first goal against Millwall in a 2–0 win on 6 January 1912. The following season, Bowler scored 18 league goals in 36 appearances as the club became Southern League champions. He played in five matches for the Southern League representative side and was selected for England in an unofficial international against Scotland in Cairo during the First World War. He returned to Plymouth after the war, and was a member of the squad when the club was elected to the Football League in 1920. Thomas William Bowler
Thomas William Bowler (9 December 1812 Tring, Hertfordshire – 24 October 1869 London), was a self-taught British landscape painter who lived for some years at the Cape of Good Hope, and published a series of views of Cape Town and its neighbourhood. He is notable for having depicted some 35 years of the Cape's history in landscapes and seascapes. Life Bowler was born in Tring, Hertfordshire in 1812, the son of William Bowler and his wife Sarah Butterfield, He landed at the Cape on 5 January 1834 as a servant to Thomas Maclear, the new Astronomer Royal, whose service he left in July 1835, taking employment with Capt. Richard Wolfe, Commandant of Robben Island, and remaining until the end of 1838. Bowler then started offering his services in Cape Town as a "drawing master and landscape painter". Phillip Charles Bowler (born March 2, 1948, New York City) is an American jazz double-bassist and radio Host (radio), host. Career Bowler attended the University of Hartford, where he received a bachelor's degree in music in 1972. He played with Roland Kirk from 1976–78, then with Hugh Masekela (1980), Joe Lee Wilson (1981), Wynton Marsalis (1982–83), Max Roach (1983), Big Nick Nicholas (1983-85), Slide Hampton, Jon Faddis (1984–89), and Ralph Peterson, Jr. (1987-1996). He played in a quintet with Donald Harrison and Terence Blanchard in 1984–85, touring in Europe with Benny Golson. Peter Duncan Bowler (born 30 July 1963) is a former English-born Australian cricketer who played for Leicestershire in 1986, Tasmania in 1986/87, Derbyshire from 1988 to 1994 and for Somerset from 1995 to 2004. Playing career Bowler played three youth Test matches during a 1982 tour of Pakistan; he made 82 on his debut, also making a 76 on the tour. In 1986, Bowler made a century on his Leicestershire debut. Though he played in Australia during the following season, he came back to England in 1988, playing for Derbyshire and, fourteen times in the ensuing seventeen seasons, top-scored in the season with an innings exceeding 100. In 1988, his first season with Derbyshire, he scored 1725 runs, a record which stood for three years until broken by Mohammad Azharuddin. Bowler's top score in first-class cricket was 241 not out.
