James Bowie High School is a public high school in southwest Austin, Texas, named after Texan revolutionary James Bowie. With a student body of 2,875, Bowie is the largest school in the Austin Independent School District and the fourth largest secondary school in Central Texas. The school was established in 1988 on of land donated to the school district by Circle C Ranch, which again in 2011 donated for athletic purposes. Michael Griffin (American Football)
Michael Devin Griffin (born January 4, 1985) is a former American football safety who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. High school career A native of Austin, Texas, Griffin attended Bowie High School, where he was a two-year starter at running back and also started at defensive back as a senior. He earned honorable mention All-State Class 5A honors on offense and was also named Academic All-District and All-Central Texas as a two-way performer that year. Stephen LeCharles Randolph (born May 1, 1974) is an American left-handed pitcher formerly in Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball. Career Randolph was selected by the New York Yankees in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB Draft out of the University of Texas, Austin. He spent three seasons in the Yankees farm system, never getting above "A" ball. In late 1997 he was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft and joined the Diamondbacks farm system, where he would remain through 2003, primarily with the Tucson Sidewinders. He made his Major League debut on March 31, 2003 for the Diamondbacks against the Los Angeles Dodgers, working 1/3 of an inning in relief. Celester Collier
Celester "CC" Collier (born c. 1952) is a retired American basketball coach. Collier played basketball at Paris Junior College from 1979–1981, and Southwest Texas State University from 1981 to 1983. He coached at SWT for two years after playing. He was inducted into the Paris Junior College Hall of Fame and the Southwest Texas State Hall of Honor in 2001. Collier spent the last 31 years of a 43-year coaching career as the boys basketball head coach at Bowie High School in Austin, Texas. 2005 Texas Longhorns Football Team
The 2005 Texas Longhorns football team represented the University of Texas at Austin during the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season, winning the Big 12 Conference championship and the national championship. The team was coached by Mack Brown, led on offense by quarterback Vince Young, and played its home games at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The team's penultimate victory of the season, the Big 12 Championship Game, featured the biggest margin of victory in the history of that contest. The Texas Longhorns are the athletic teams representing the University of Texas at Austin.
