Bowen Ebenezer Aylsworth
Bowen Ebenezer Aylsworth (January 12, 1835 – November 10, 1914) was an Ontario political figure. He represented Lennox (provincial electoral district), Lennox in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1898 to 1902 as a Liberal Party of Ontario, Liberal member. He was born in Ernestown Township, Ontario, Ernestown Township, Lennox County, Ontario, Lennox County, Canada West, the son of David Aylsworth. He was reeve for the township from 1888 to 1889. In 1865, he married Elizabeth Ann Mills. Aylsworth was warden for Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, Lennox and Addington Counties in 1897. He was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1890. His election in 1898 was declared void, but he won the subsequent by-election in 1899. Member Of Provincial Parliament (Ontario)
A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Elsewhere in Canada, the titular designation "Member of Provincial Parliament" has also been used to refer to members of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1791 to 1838, and to members of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1955 to 1968. Ontario The titular designation "Member of Provincial Parliament" and the acronym "MPP" were formally adopted by the Ontario legislature on April 7, 1938. Before the adoption of this resolution, members had no fixed designation. Prior to Confederation in 1867, members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada had been known by various titles, including MPP, MLA and MHA. This confusion persisted after 1867, with members of the Ontario legislature using the title Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) or Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) interchangeably.
