Bovina is a town in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States. At the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,130. The village of Shiocton is located within the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 33.7 square miles (87.4 km2), of which, 33.7 square miles (87.2 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km2) of it (0.18%) is water. Demographics At the 2020 census, there were 1,153 people and 402 households. There were 483 housing units. The racial makeup of the town was 1,078 White alone, 6 black or African descent alone, 1 American Indian, 11 Asian, 43 Hispanic, and 10 some other race alone. Ervin Conradt
Ervin W. Conradt (October 4, 1916 – November 5, 2001) was an American politician and farmer. Born in Bovina, Wisconsin, Conradt was a farmer. He served in the Town of Bovina as a supervisor and chairman and also on the Outagamie County Board of Supervisors. Conradt was in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1965 to 1981 as a Republican. Conradt then became Wisconsin State Highway Commissioner. From 1994 to 1996, Conradt was mayor of Seymour, Wisconsin. Shiocton, Wisconsin
Shiocton is a village in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 921 at the 2010 census. It is wholly surrounded by the Town of Bovina. History In the Menominee language, this place is known as ''Māēnomehsāyak'', "wild rice along the banks". The name refers to the wild rice which is a traditional staple of the diets of many Native Americans living in the area, particularly the Menominee, whose name in English is ultimately from an Ojibwe word meaning "people of the wild rice". The Menominee ceded this territory to the United States in the 1836 Treaty of the Cedars, after years of negotiations about how to accommodate the Oneida, Stockbridge-Munsee, and Brothertown peoples who were being removed from New York to Wisconsin.
