Boussu (; pcd, Boussu-dlé-Mont) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. As of January 1, 2006, Boussu had a population of 20,058. The total area is 20.01 km², which gives a population density of 1,002 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Boussu and Hornu. History During the late Middle Ages the town gave his name to an important branch of the House of Hénin. The castle of Boussu was constructed in this period, and important members of this family are buried inside the church. Most famous is the Mausoleum of Maximilien II de Hénin, 5th Count of Bossu. In the 19th century local industry expanded. A planned industrial city, called le Grand Hornu, was constructed. Located in Hornu, the buildings are now a museum. House Of Hénin
The house of Hénin is a family of the Belgian high nobility, one of its branches was titled Prince of Chimay. Alliances were made with important Spanish noble families such as house of Borja and the house of Velasco. The surname comes from the town of Hénin-Beaumont in Flanders-Artois, currently in Northern France. In the 13th century, the family grew into three different branches, such as the branch of Hénin-Liétard d'Alcase and the branch of the lords of Bossu. Massimo Bruno (born 17 September 1993) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a right winger for Kortrijk. Club career Charleroi Born in Boussu, Belgium, Bruno started his football career at RSB Frameries before he moved to Mons. Bruno joined Anderlecht when he was eight years old. Bruno was progressing well at the club until he suffered "a growth spurt and was injured in the heel" and was sidelined for four months. Maximilien II de Hénin, 5th Count of Bossu (1580-1625) was a noble lord. Family Maxillien was the son of Jacques de Hénin, Marquess of la Veere, brother of Maximilien de Hénin, 3rd Count of Bossu and Marie of Hanaert, Baronnes of Liedekercke. He became the brother-in-law of Íñigo de Borja and Luis de Velasco y Velasco, 2nd Count of Salazar. In 1605 he married Alexandrin-Françoise of Gavre, daughter of Charles of Gavre, count of Frezin. Marcel Moreau
Marcel Moreau (16 April 1933 − 4 April 2020) was a Belgian writer. He was born in Boussu, a town in the mining region of Borinage in Hainaut Province, into a working-class environment. He described it as "a pure cultural void" with "a total absence of any cultural reference point". He lost his father at the age of 15, and abandoned his studies a short time later. He worked in various trades before becoming an accountant's assistant in Brussels for the newspaper '' Le Peuple''. In 1955 he became a proof-reader for the daily ''Le Soir''. Marcel Moreau married in 1957 and fathered two children. In 1963 he published his first novel, ''Quintes'', notably praised by Simone de Beauvoir. Then followed ''Bannière de bave'' (Dribble Banner, 1965), ''La terre infestée d'hommes'' (Earth Infested with Men, 1966) and ''Le chant des paroxysmes'' (The Sound of Paroxysms, 1967). Grand Hornu
Grand-Hornu is an old industrial coal mining complex and company town (''cité ouvrière'') in Hornu (Boussu), near Mons, in Belgium. It was built by Henri De Gorge between 1810 and 1830.
