Bourassa (formerly known as Montreal—Bourassa) is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. Its population in 2016 was 101,032. Geography The district includes Montreal North and the eastern part of the neighbourhood of Sault-au-Récollet in the Borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. The neighbouring ridings are Ahuntsic, Saint-Léonard—Saint-Michel, Honoré-Mercier, and Alfred-Pellan. Henri-Bourassa station is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Orange Line. It is located in the Ahuntsic district. The station opened October 14, 1966, as part of the original network of the Metro. It was the eastern terminal of the Orange Line until 2007, when the line expanded to Montmorency station in Laval. Overview The original part of the station, designed by Janusz Warunkiewicz, is a normal side platform station, connected by a transept and a long tunnel to a mezzanine some distance away. Bourassa State Forest is a state forest located in Bedford County, Virginia, north of Smith Mountain Lake. It is used primarily for timber production, as an outdoor lab, and as a wildlife sanctuary. The forest is adjacent to the Smith Mountain Cooperative Wildlife Management Area. Bourassa State Forest is owned and maintained by the Virginia Department of Forestry. It is open to the public for horseback riding and hiking; hunting, camping, and motorized vehicles are prohibited. Some uses may require visitors to possess a valid State Forest Use Permit. The Robert-Bourassa Reservoir () is a man-made lake in northern Quebec, Canada. It was created in the mid-1970s as part of the James Bay Project and provides the needed water for the Robert-Bourassa and La Grande-2-A generating stations. It has a maximum surface area of , and a surface elevation between and . The reservoir has an estimated volume of , of which is available for hydro-electric power generation. The reservoir is formed behind the Robert-Bourassa Dam that was built across a valley of the La Grande River. The Robert-Bourassa generating station, formerly known as La Grande-2 (LG-2), is a hydroelectric power station on the La Grande River that is part of Hydro-Québec's James Bay Project in Canada. The station can generate 5,616 MW and its 16 units were gradually commissioned between 1979 and 1981. Annual generation is in the vicinity of 26500 GWh. Together with the adjacent 2,106 MW La Grande-2-A generating station (LG-2-A), commissioned in 1991–1992, it uses the reservoir and dam system of the Robert-Bourassa Reservoir to generate electricity. The two plants taken together account for more than 20% of Hydro-Québec's total installed capacity of 36,810 MW in 2009. Bourassa is a former provincial electoral district in Quebec, Canada. It included part of the city and later borough of Montréal-Nord. It was created for the 1966 election from part of Bourget electoral district. Its last election was in 1998. It disappeared in the 2003 election. Its successor electoral districts were Bourassa-Sauvé (formed by merging part of Bourassa with all of Sauvé electoral district) and Crémazie. François Bourassa
François Bourassa (June 5, 1813 – May 13, 1898) was a Quebec farmer and political figure. He represented Saint-Jean in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member from 1867 to 1896. He was born in Sainte-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie, Lower Canada in 1813. His father, also named François, was the first mayor of the town. He took part in the Lower Canada Rebellion, was arrested but later released and later served as captain in the local militia. He settled at Saint-Jean and represented the town on the council for Chambly County. In 1854, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Saint-Jean as a member of the parti rouge; he served under the Canadian Confederation, when he was elected to the federal parliament, although he opposed confederation.
