Boundary Waters Blues Festival
Boundary Waters Blues Festival is a blues music festival in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. It was established in 2001 by Michael Jankovec—host of a blues radio show in Ely, Minnesota—and Deb Pettit and Doug Brown of Timber Wolf Lodge. Jankovec continues to run the festival, which occurs on the weekend before the Labor Day weekend. The official host of the event is Boundary Waters Radio. Since its conception the Boundary Waters Blues Festival has showcased over 30 different blues acts, including Little Milton, Bobby Rush, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Reneé Austin, Larry McCray, Ernie Lancaster, Floyd Miles, George "Mojo" Buford, Jimmy D. Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture. ''V'' is the fifth studio album by the instrumental stoner rock band Karma to Burn. It was released on May 27, 2011, via Napalm Records. The album was later reissued in 2022 by Heavy Psych Sounds Records. Unlike their previous releases since ''Karma to Burn'', this is not an instrumental album. Johnny Rawls (born September 10, 1951) is an American soul blues singer, guitarist, arranger, songwriter and record producer. He was influenced by the deep soul and gospel music of the 1960s, as performed by O. V. Wright, James Carr, and Z. Z. Rita Chiarelli is a Canadian blues singer. She was called "the goddess of Canadian blues" by Shelagh Rogers at CBC Radio One. Biography Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Chiarelli began performing in Ronnie Hawkins' band in the early 1980s. She subsequently spent several years in Italy. Chris Beard (born August 29, 1957) is an American electric blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He has released five albums to date, the first of which was nominated for a Blues Music Award. He is dubbed 'Prince of the Blues'. Life and career Beard was born in Rochester, New York, United States, the son of Joe Beard, a local blues musician. Inspired by Buddy Guy and Matt Murphy, Beard quickly graduated from learning to play the guitar to performing with a local rhythm and blues group by his mid-teens. George "Mojo" Buford
George Carter Buford, Jr. (November 10, 1929 – October 11, 2011), known as Mojo Buford, was an American blues harmonica player best known for his work in Muddy Waters's band. Biography Buford relocated from Hernando, Mississippi, to Memphis, Tennessee, in his youth, where he studied the blues. He relocated to Chicago in 1952, forming the Savage Boys, which eventually was known as the Muddy Waters, Jr. Band. They substituted for Waters at local nightclubs while he was touring. Buford first played in Waters's backing band in 1959, replacing Little Walter, but in 1962 moved to Minneapolis to front his own band and to record albums.
