Philippe "Bouli" Lanners (born 20 May 1965) is a Belgian actor, author and film director. His film '' The Giants'' was nominated for twelve Magritte Awards, winning five, including Best Film and Best Director. Biography Lanners was born on 20 May 1965 in Moresnet-Chapelle, Belgium. His mother was a cleaning lady and his father was a customs agent. Plombières (; german: Bleyberg or ''Bleiberg'', nl, Blieberg; wa, So-on-Mont-d'-Plomb) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. ''A Dog of Flanders '' is a 1999 film directed by Kevin Brodie and starring Jack Warden, Jeremy James Kissner, Jesse James, Jon Voight, Cheryl Ladd, Steven Hartley, and Bruce McGill. The screenplay was written by Brodie and Robert Singer, based on the 1872 novel of the same name by Ouida. ''When the Sea Rises'' (french: Quand la mer monte...) is a 2004 French-Belgian romantic comedy film directed by Yolande Moreau and Gilles Porte. It was Moreau's directorial debut. Plot Irène is an actress who performs her one-person show all over northern France. One day she is heading for a new town when her car breaks down. On the countryside she is picked up by a travelling stranger who rides a Scooter. He introduces himself as Dries and gives her a lift. She rewards him with a ticket for her show. When he arrives there she involves him in her performance. The next evening he returns and feels he must protect her against perturbators in the audience. Nadine Monfils (born 12 February 1953) is a Belgian writer and film director and producer. She was born in Etterbeek. She has contributed to the magazines ', ''Tel Quel'' and ''Focus''. Monfils published her first collection of stories ''Laura Colombe, Contes pour petites filles perverse'' in 1981. She has written a series of detective novels centred on the character Inspector Léon, a policeman who knits; Léon also appears in her 2004 film ''Madame Édouard''. ''Aaltra'' is a 2004 Belgian French-language deadpan black comedy film directed and written by Gustave de Kervern and Benoît Delépine. The film won four awards and was nominated for three others. Plot Benoit Delepine plays a harassed businessman who, frazzled by commuting to his office, is working from home against company rules. While arguing with a jobbing farmworker ( Gustave Kervern), whose tractor is spraying herbicide into his garden he is summoned to the office by his angry bosses. However, his car becomes stuck behind the tractor. The farmworker will not let him pass, resulting in the businessman missing the train and losing his job.
