Boulcott, New Zealand
Boulcott is a central suburb of Lower Hutt City situated in the south of the North Island of New Zealand. The suburb lies about a kilometre north-east of the Lower Hutt CBD. Boulcott takes its name from Almon Boulcott (1815-1880), who farmed in the area in the 1840s. His father, John Ellerker Boulcott (1784-1855), was a director of the New Zealand Company.Louis E. Naenae College
Naenae College, is a state-run coeducational secondary school located in north-central Lower Hutt, New Zealand. It is situated on a site in the suburb of Avalon. The school was founded in 1953 to serve the Naenae state housing development, although the school is located in the suburb of Avalon. The school has an enrolment of students from Years 9 to 13 (ages 12 to 18) as of Nic Richards is the current principal. History Construction of Naenae began the late 1940s under Prime Minister Peter Fraser and the First Labour Government. It was supposed to become a "designer community" of suburban state housing. With the raising of the school leaving age from fourteen to fifteen in 1944, the expansion of Naenae and wider Lower Hutt, and the start of the post-World War II baby boom, Naenae College was built to accommodate secondary school students north of central Lower Hutt. Woburn, New Zealand
Woburn is a suburb of Lower Hutt, Wellington situated at the bottom of the North Island of New Zealand. Henry Petre farmed the area in the 1840s and named the area after the Duke of Bedford's estate, Woburn Abbey. Petre's farm was later taken over by Daniel and Harriet Riddiford, whose descendants built a large home there, with the land being gradually subdivided. Hutt Intermediate School
Hutt Intermediate School (HIS) is a state intermediate school located in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The school was founded in 1948, and currently has a total number of 685 students and a teaching staff of 45. The principal, until the end of 2006, was Neil Withington. He was the principal of Hutt Intermediate School for six years, and has left to take up a position at Victoria University of Wellington. Mike Gillatt has taken up the position since. Houses The four houses in the school (in alphabetical order) are Bracken (green), Brooke (blue), Burns (white) and Byron (red), named after British poets. The houses compete fiercely to win the House Cup, awarded at the end of every school year. The 2013 New Zealand census was the thirty-third national census. "The National Census Day" used for the census was on Tuesday, 5 March 2013. The population of New Zealand was counted as 4,242,048, – an increase of 214,101 or 5.3% over the 2006 census. The 2013 census forms were the same as the forms developed for the 2011 census which was cancelled due to the February 2011 major earthquake in Christchurch. There were no new topics or questions. New Zealand Company
The New Zealand Company, chartered in the United Kingdom, was a company that existed in the first half of the 19th century on a business model focused on the systematic colonisation of New Zealand. The company was formed to carry out the principles devised by Edward Gibbon Wakefield, who envisaged the creation of a new-model English society in the southern hemisphere. Under Wakefield's model, the colony would attract capitalists who would then have a ready supply of labour—migrant labourers who could not initially afford to be property owners, but who would have the expectation of one-day buying land with their savings.
