Botswana National Olympic Committee
Botswana National Olympic Committee is the National Olympic Committee representing Botswana. It is also the body responsible for Botswana's representation at the Commonwealth Games. The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) has facilitated Botswana's participation at the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and the country has never missed an edition since then. Botswana recorded their best performance at the Summer Olympic Games in London in 2012, when Nijel Amos won the country their only medal to date, a silver medal. While Botswana did not win any medal at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, the country performed well in the 2nd edition in Nanjing China, where they won two (2) silver medals, which performance was the fourth best by an African country at the Games. Hicham Mesbahi (born December 4, 1980) is a boxer from Morocco who participated in three Olympics. He was born in Casablanca. In 2000, when Sydney hosted the Summer Olympics, he fell in the second round. The women's 400 metres at the 2004 Summer Olympics as part of the athletics program were held at the Athens Olympic Stadium from August 21 to 24. The first round had split a full roster of runners into eight heats with the first three gaining a direct qualification and then the next six fastest across all heats advancing to the semifinals. The top two runners in each of the three semifinal heats moved on directly to the final, and they are immediately joined by the next two fastest from any of the semifinals. Amantle Montsho (born July 4, 1983) is a female sprinter from Botswana who specializes in the 400 metres.
