Boston Thirteens
The Boston Thirteens (officially written as Boston 13s RLFC) are a professional rugby league football team based in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. The team previously played in the USA Rugby League, before turning fully professional in 2021 and becoming a founding member of the North American Rugby League. The Boston Thirteens were founded in 2009 as an expansion team of the American National Rugby League (AMNRL). The league had been attempting to form a rugby league team in Boston for several years, due to the comparatively strong presence of rugby union in the area. The Thirteens played in the AMNRL from 2009 & 2010, going to the league semi-finals in their inaugural season. Nickerson Field
Nickerson Field is an outdoor athletic stadium in the Northeastern United States, on the campus of Boston University (BU) in Boston, Massachusetts. The stadium is owned by BU, and is the home field for some Boston University Terriers athletics programs, including soccer and lacrosse. It was also the home of the Boston University Terriers football team until the program was discontinued following the 1997 season. The stadium is located on the site of Braves Field, the former home ballpark of the Boston Braves, a major league baseball team in the National League; the franchise relocated to Milwaukee in March 1953, and relocated again in 1966, becoming the Atlanta Braves. An overlapping circles grid is a geometric pattern of repeating, overlapping circles of an equal radius in two-dimensional space. 2017 USARL Season
The 2017 USA Rugby League season is the seventh season of the USA Rugby League National Premiership competition, and its third as the undisputed top-level rugby league competition in the United States. Twelve teams compete for the USARL Championship. The season began on Saturday, June 3, and concluded with the Championship Final on Saturday, August 26. Team changes The Bucks County Sharks and the DC Slayers folded after the 2016 season bringing the number of teams down to 12. Robin Peers
Robin Peers (born 18 January 1982) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who went on to be head coach of the Boston Thirteens in the USARL, and interim Head Coach of the USA Hawks National Team. He played 13 years for his only club Gateshead Thunder. He made his first grade début in 2002 as a winger, and played there for most of his career, however his final season in 2012 was spent playing full back. Peers was a prominent part of the Gateshead Thunder team that were championship winners in 2008. Childhood Robin grew up in Wallsend (North Tyneside) where he attended Richardson Dees First School, Western Middle School and Burnside Community High School. He played his junior rugby league for Newcastle Eagles (now Wallsend Eagles), signing for the club in 1992. 2014 USARL Season
The 2014 USARL season was the fourth season of the USA Rugby League competition in the United States. It began on Saturday, May 31, and concluded with the Championship Final on Saturday, August 23. The Philadelphia Fight capped their first perfect season by defeating the Jacksonville Axemen 30-18 in Championship Final, claiming their third USARL Championship. Teams This season saw significant changes to the number of teams competing, as well as the structure of the competition. In the wake of failed unification negotiations with the AMNRL in early 2014, it was announced at the USARL February 16 Annual General Meeting that the competition would be expanded by four teams: Brooklyn, Central Florida, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay. 2011 USARL Season
The 2011 USARL season was the inaugural season of the USA Rugby League (USARL). The league was formed in January 2011 as a breakaway competition from the American National Rugby League (AMNRL). The regular season kicked off on June 4 and ended on July 30; the Jacksonville Axemen won the minor premiership with the best regular season record. The first round of playoffs were played on August 13, 2011, with the New Haven Warriors and Philadelphia Fight winning the round. The league's Grand Final took place on August 27 between the Philadelphia Fight and the New Haven Warriors. Philadelphia won 28–26, receiving their first national championship. Oneida FC
Oneida FC (Oneida Football Club) is a soccer club based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The organisation was estabished in 2011 and plays its home games at East Boston Memorial Stadium, owned by the city of Boston. The field also hosts American football and baseball games. In the past, Oneida had a rugby league team which was dissolved in 2013. It played in the USA Rugby League (USARL) from 2011 to 2012 before pausing their operations. The team played their home games at Henry G. Steinbrenner '27 Stadium on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2020 a separate organization, "Oneida County Football Club", was started in Utica, Oneida County, NY. They feature youth soccer teams. 2010 AMNRL Season
The 2010 American National Rugby League season was the 13th season of the AMNRL. The Pittsburgh Vipers are the newest team to enter the competition and the Bucks County Sharks have withdrawn from the competition. Teams * Some teams will also field a 2nd team which will be played after the main game in order to give players more experience. * The Canada national rugby league team has been invited to play in the War at the Shore only and will not feature in the regular season competition with the game set to be re-launched in Canada after years of inactivity * A Chicago-based team (The Chicago Stockyarders) will also play in the War at the Shore with future plans to enter into the AMNRL.
