Jean Bosler
Jean Bosler (24 March 1878, Angers – 25 September 1973, Marseille) was a French astronomer and author of several books. Recruited by Deslandres as an astronomer at l’observatoire de Paris, Bosler discovered in 1908 in the spectrum of Comet Morehouse the spectral lines of ionized nitrogen, which was the first evidence of that element in comets. Much of his research was on the physical properties and orbits of comets. He made a report on progress in astrophysics in the United States for the 1910 annual report of the Smithsonian Institution. In 1912, he showed in his doctoral dissertation (supervised by Henri Poincaré) that the Sun’s magnetic field, by means of the intermediary of the solar wind, explains many aspects of cometary tails, the aurora borealis and aurora australis, solar storms and telluric currents. John Bosler
John Morgan Bosler (born 4 February 1933) was an Australian rugby union player. Bosler, a scrum-half, was born in Sydney, and grew up in Dover Heights. He attended Rose Bay Public Primary School and was the only schoolboy player (League) to be awarded a Ray Norman Gold Badge for excellence in all-round football ability. He went to Sydney Boys High School, graduating in 1950, where he was selected for both CHS and GPS Firsts. Bosler is generally thought to be one of the top five players in the history of GPS rugby. Virginia Bosler (September 23, 1926 – August 30, 2020), known to friends by her childhood nickname "Winkie", was an American actress born in Newton, Massachusetts. She was known for acting in Broadway musicals. Early Bosler's father was a maritime engineer, and her early years were spent relocating frequently along the eastern coast. At seven years old, she moved to Great Neck, Long Island, and was enrolled into ballet classes by her mother, who was concerned about her daughter's posture.
