Borujerd Rug
Borujerd rugs (Persian: قالی بروجرد qaliye borujerd) is a type of Persian rug woven in Borujerd, Western Iran. Borujerd rugs are different from Luri rugs as well as rugs of Arak and Central Iran. However, they have more features similar with rugs of Hamadan province. Borujerd rugs are often produced in small (one to two square meters) using local wool and natural colors. Families in the city of Borujerd and its surrounding villages are involved in producing hand-made rugs and carpets. After establishment of the British-Switzerland company Ziegler & Co. in Sultanabad ( Arak) in 1883, this company showed interest in Borujerd rugs because of close distance as well as the quality and durability of Borujerdi rugs. The company also had a large-scale trade with Borujerd for supplying quality natural wool and colors from Borujerd. Borujerd ( fa, بروجرد ''Borūjerd'') is a city and the capital of Borujerd County, Lorestan Province in western Iran. At the 2016 census, its population was 234,997 persons. Among the existing modern cities in Iran, Borujerd is one of the oldest reported at least since the 9th century. In Sassanid Empire, Borujerd was a small town and region neighboring Nahavand. Gaining more attention during Great Seljuq Empire in the 9th and 10th centuries, Borujerd stood as an industrial, commercial and strategic city in Zagros Mountains until the 20th century. Arak, Iran
Arak ( fa, اراک, ''Arâk''; ) is the capital of Markazi Province, Iran. At the 2011 census, its population was 526,182, in 160,761 families. The city is nicknamed the "Industrial Capital of Iran".
