Bortne Tunnel
The Bortne Tunnel ( no, Bortnetunnelen) is a road tunnel in Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The long tunnel was built from 2010 to 2013 and was opened in the summer of 2013. The tunnel is part of Norwegian County Road 616 and it connects the village of Bortnen to an area along lake Sørdalsvatnet, about north of the municipal center of Svelgen. The tunnel was built as part of a large project to connect the islands of Bremangerlandet and Frøya to the mainland with a direct connection to the municipal center of Svelgen. This tunnel is the final leg of this project. Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. Bremanger is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village of Svelgen is the administrative centre of the municipality. Svelgen
Svelgen is the administrative centre of Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located at the eastern end of the Nordgulen fjord and at the mouth of the Svelgselva river. The Bortne Tunnel is located about north of the village, connecting it to the northern parts of the municipality. The village has a population (2018) of 1,207 and a population density of . Prior to 1912, the area had no name, other than calling it the end of the Nordgulen fjord or by some of the three local farms. In 1912, the village area was named Svelgen, after the nearby river Svelgselva. Since 1917, a large smelting plant in Svelgen has been a cornerstone business for the village. Bremangerlandet
Bremangerlandet is an island in Bremanger Municipality in the traditional district of Nordfjord in Vestland county, Norway. The island is one of the largest islands in the county. The highest point on the island is the tall mountain Svartevassegga, however the cliff at Hornelen, located to the east, is more well-known and has an elevation of . The long lake Dalevatnet is located in the central part of the island. The island is located northeast of the smaller island of Frøya.
