Borsigwalde
Borsigwalde () is a German locality (''Ortsteil'') within the borough (''Bezirk'') of Reinickendorf, Berlin. Until 2012 was a zone (''Ortslage'') part of Wittenau. History The locality, named after the engineer August Borsig, was first settled in 1899 and, on 1 October 1920, incorporated into Berlin with the Greater Berlin Act. Part of Wittenau as a simple ''Ortslage'', Borsigwalde became the 11th locality of Reinickendorf (and the 96th of Berlin) on 24 April 2012, following a decision by the boroughs assembly of 14 March. The decision was announced in the official gazette on 18 May 2012. Geography Located in north of Berlin and in the middle of Reinickendorf, Borsigwalde borders with the localities of Tegel (west and south), Reinickendorf (southeast) and Wittenau (north and east). Wittenau () is a German locality (''Ortsteil'') within the borough (''Bezirk'') of Reinickendorf, Berlin. History Originally named Dalldorf it was first mentioned in 1332. In 1869 the city of Berlin had acquired land in the Dalldorf in order to build the ''Städtische Irrenanstalt zu Dalldorf'' (Municipal Mental Asylum at Dalldorf), today's Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik (Karl Bonhoeffer mental home), between 1877 and 1879. August Borsig
Johann Karl Friedrich August Borsig (23 June 1804 – 6 July 1854) was a German businessman who founded the ''Borsig-Werke'' factory. Borsig was born in Breslau (Wrocław), the son of cuirassier and carpenter foreman Johann George Borsig. After learning his father's trade, he first attended the ''Königliche Provinzial-Kunst- und Bauschule'' (Royal Provincial Art and Building school), then until fall of 1825 the ''Königliche Gewerbe-Institut'' (Royal Institute of Trade). He received his practical training in engine construction at the ''Neue Berliner Eisengießerei'' (New Iron Foundry of Berlin) of F. A. is an autobahn in Germany. It connects the Berliner Stadtring (A 100) with the Berliner Ring (A 10). Before reunification, it was called the A 11. The A 111 was used from 31 December 1987 to German reunification in 1990 for transit traffic through the GDR to Hamburg and Malmö (Sweden) with the border crossing Heiligensee / Stolpe.
