''Borrowed Time'' is the first studio album by New Zealand hip hop duo Frontline ( David "Con Psy" Dallas and Nick "41" McLaren). It was released on 31 October 2005 in New Zealand. Release and promotion ''Borrowed Time'' was released in New Zealand by Dirty Records on 31 October 2005. Frontline embarked on the Line Em Up Tour, on which they performed in six New Zealand cities from 21 October 2005 to 11 November 2005, and were supported by P-Money, PNC and D-Form. The album was released to the United Kingdom 7digital store by Warner Music New Zealand on 18 March 2006. "Breathe with Me" was released in 2005 as the first single from the album. It reached number sixteen on the New Zealand Singles Chart. "Lost in Translation", which features Charene, was released on 3 July 2006 and followed by tour of nine New Zealand cities from July to September 2006. Frontline (band)
Frontline are a New Zealand hip hop music group formed in 2001. History Frontline is a two-man hip hop team: Samoan-European MC David Dallas (also known as Con Psy) and producer and DJ Nick Maclaren DJ 41:30. Con Psy won the 2003 Auckland MC Battle for Supremacy, and 41 has won the 2000 Auckland ITF Championships. After meeting in 2001 in Auckland, the pair formed some tracks together and released a mixtape, ''What You Expect?''. During this time Maclaren produced tracks for artists including the Deceptikonz and Mareko, while Dallas completed a BSc in computing. Without any formal broadcasting or distribution, the mixtape sold over 1000 copies. The duo hooked up with premier New Zealand DJ P Money (also known as Peter Wadams). He signed Frontline to his co-owned record label, Dirty Records. The Official New Zealand Music Chart ( mi, Te Papa Tātai Waiata Matua o Aotearoa) is the weekly New Zealand top 40 singles and albums charts, issued weekly by Recorded Music NZ (formerly Recording Industry Association of New Zealand). The Music Chart also includes the top-20 New Zealand artist singles and albums and top 10 compilation albums. All charts are compiled from data of both physical and digital sales from music retailers in New Zealand. Methodology The singles chart is currently sales and streaming data of songs. In June 2014 it was announced that the chart would also include streaming; this took effect for the chart published 7 November 2014 and dated 10 November 2014. New Zealand Music Award For Best Urban/Hip Hop Album
Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Soul/RnB Artist are two Aotearoa Music Awards that honour New Zealand music artists for outstanding recordings of the genres of hip hop, and soul or R&B. The award was first awarded in 2002 as Best R&B/Hip Hop Album, and in 2003 it was called Best Urban Album. In 2004 it moved to Best Urban/Hip Hop Album. In 2017 the award was split into two separate awards: Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Soul/RnB Artist. The entry criteria were also changed to require either an album or a minimum of five single releases in the eligibility period. Controversy In 2016, the award was presented to Aaradhna her album ''Brown Girl''. She refused to accept the award, saying she felt the inclusion of both R&B music and hip hop in the same "urban" category was due to racial stereotyping and that she felt as a pop/R&B artist, she shouldn't be in the same category as hip hop acts. The 2006 New Zealand Music Awards took place on 18 October 2006 at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. The best Jazz album was presented at the New Zealand Jazz Festival in November. ''The New Zealand Herald'' is a daily newspaper published in Auckland, New Zealand, owned by New Zealand Media and Entertainment, and considered a newspaper of record for New Zealand.
