Polish names have two main elements: the given name, and the surname. The usage of personal names in Poland is generally governed by civil law, church law, personal taste and family custom. The law requires a given name to indicate the person's gender. Almost all Polish female names end in a vowel ''-a'', and most male names end in a consonant or a vowel other than ''a''. Joseph Thomas Borowski (born May 4, 1971) is a sports broadcaster for the Arizona Diamondbacks, as well as a former professional baseball right-handed relief pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Florida Marlins, and Cleveland Indians. Mae is an American rock band that formed in Norfolk, Virginia in 2001. The band's name is an acronym for "Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience", based on a course taken by drummer Jacob Marshall while a student at Old Dominion University. History Early years with Tooth and Nail (2001–2006) Jacob Marshall and Dave Elkins began what would become Mae by writing their first song, "Embers and Envelopes", in Marshall's living room. Wacław Borowski (August 6, 1885 – April 9, 1954) was a Polish painter and decorative artist. He was born and died in Łódź. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Józef Mehoffer who was one of the leading artists of the Young Poland movement and one of the most revered Polish artists of his time. He spent the years of 1909–1913 in Paris copying works of the old masters at the Louvre. He later traveled to Italy to study the Renaissance masters in the place of its origin. In 1920 Borowski was a volunteer fighter for the Polish forces in the Polish-Bolshevik War. In 1926 he cofounded and was a vital part of Warsaw's artistic groups RYTM. He also competed in the art competitions at the 1932 Summer Olympics. Tim Borowski (born 2 May 1980) is a German football assistant manager of Werder Bremen and a former professional midfielder. Tadeusz Borowski (; 12 November 1922 – 3 July 1951) was a Polish writer and journalist. His wartime poetry and stories dealing with his experiences as a prisoner at Auschwitz are recognized as classics of Polish literature. Early life Borowski was born in 1922 into the Polish community in Zhytomyr, Ukrainian SSR (today Ukraine). In 1926, his father, whose bookstore had been nationalized by the communists, was sent to a camp in the Gulag system in Russian Karelia because he had been a member of a Polish military organization during World War I. In 1930, Borowski's mother was deported to a settlement on the shores of the Yenisey, in Siberia, during Collectivization. During this time Tadeusz lived with his aunt. Borowski and his family were targeted (as Poles) by the Soviet Union during Stalin's Great Terror.
