BornHack
BornHack (a portmanteau of Bornholm and hack) is an annual hacker camp on the Danish island of Funen, near Gelsted. From 2016 to 2018, it was organized on Bornholm. History In 2021, the BornHack electronic badge was based on a perfboard due to the chip shortage. The 2021 camp was also captured on Google Maps arial pictures. In 2022, Thomas Flummer developed a badge based on the RP2040, for which software can be developed in CircuitPython. During BornHack there is a field specifically designed for loud noise, with a noise barrier made from soil. A Dutch hacker brought an old civil defense siren for testing purposes. Within a few minutes, four separate phone calls were made from houses in a large distance from BornHack to the Danish police. Gelsted is a small town and parish in northwestern Funen, Denmark. Gelsted is located roughly halfway between Ejby, Middelfart Municipality, Ejby and Aarup, 28 kilometers west of Odense. The RP2040 is a 32-bit dual ARM Cortex-M0+ microcontroller integrated circuit by Raspberry Pi Ltd (was Raspberry Pi Trading Ltd). At the same time, it was released as part of the Raspberry Pi Pico board. Still Hacking Anyway, abbreviated SHA2017, was a hacker conference and festival in The Netherlands. It is part of the quadrennial hacker camps that started in 1989 with the Galactic Hacker Party in Amsterdam. The camp took place from 4 to 8 August on a scouts terrain in Zeewolde. At least 3300 hackers and technology minded people from 50 countries participated in workshops and discussions. Participants had Gigabit Ethernet through Datenklos (new chemical toilets with Ethernet switches). A radiostation with FM license and a GSM tower were also built. Electromagnetic Field (also known as EMF, or EMF Camp) is a camping festival in the UK, held every two years, for Hacker (hobbyist), hackers, geeks, engineers and scientists. It features talks and workshops covering a wide variety of topics. EMF is a non-profit event run entirely by a team of volunteers. Attendees of EMF receive an Electronic badge, electronic conference badge, funded by sponsorship, which in 2014 included an LCD screen, Arduino-compatible microcontroller, and a radio transceiver. Commit (version Control)
In version control systems, a commit is an operation which sends the latest changes of the source code to the repository, making these changes part of the head revision of the repository. Unlike commits in data management, commits in version control systems are kept in the repository indefinitely. Thus, when other users do an update or a checkout from the repository, they will receive the latest committed version, unless they specify that they wish to retrieve a previous version of the source code in the repository. Civil Defense Siren
A civil defense siren, also known as an air-raid siren or tornado siren, is a siren used to provide an emergency population warning to the general population of approaching danger. It is sometimes sounded again to indicate the danger has passed. Some sirens, especially within small towns, are also used to call the volunteer fire department when needed.
