The Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute (russian: Театральный институт имени Бориса Щукина) is a Russian drama college in Moscow, formed in 1914 as part of the Vakhtangov Theatre. In 2002 it was granted the Academy status. History The history of the Shchukin Institute (or Shchuka, The Pike, as it is informally known) goes back to November 1913, when a group of Moscow art students formed their own studio and invited actor and director Evgeny Vakhtangov to become their leader. October 23, 1914, when the latter held his first class with the group (then called the Mansurova School, after the street it was standing on), is celebrated as the Vakhtangov Academy's official birthday. Galina Viktorovna Belyaeva (russian: Галина Викторовна Беляева; born 26 April 1961) is a Soviet and Russian film and theatre actress, best known for her leading roles in ''A Hunting Accident'' (1977) and ''Anna Pavlova'' (1983). Belyaeva, the Meritorious Artist of Russia (2003), has been one of the leading actresses at the Moscow Mayakovsky Theatre since 1983. Biography Belyaeva was born in Irkutsk and spent her childhood years in Nevinnomyssk, Northern Caucasus, raised with her younger sister by a single mother, who worked at a local construction site. Arthur Eisen
Artur Arturovich Eizen (russian: Артур Артурович Эйзен; 8 June 1927, Moscow – 26 February 2008, Moscow), was a Soviet and Russian bass singer, actor and pedagogue. People's Artist of the USSR (1976). He was born into a family of Latvian revolutionaries, and his family was also musical; his father was a violinist. After leaving school in 1944 he joined the Shchukin Theatre School at the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre. Nikolai Petrovich Burlyayev (russian: Николай Петрович Бурляев; born 3 August 1946) is a Soviet and Russian actor and film director. Born into a family of actors, Burlyayev started his career in film and theatre when he was still a child. He is best known for his title role in Andrei Tarkovsky's ''Ivan's Childhood''. He worked with Tarkovsky again four years later, as Boriska in ''Andrei Rublev''. He was elected to the State Duma in the 2021 parliamentary elections.
