''Boris Archive'' is a three-disc collection of live material by Japanese band Boris. The first disc comprises various live renditions of older songs and material from ''Amplifier Worship'' and the ''Boris/Barebones'' split EP. The second disc is three drumless drone songs. The third disc is a live set consisting of the 65-minute ''Absolutego ''Absolutego'' is the debut studio album by Japanese experimental band Boris. It was released in 1996 by Fangs Anal Satan. This album shows inspiration from the Melvins and, most prominently, Earth. Excluding the Merzbow collaboration ''Sun Bak ...'' and the 70-minute '' Flood'' played back-to-back in 37 minutes. Altogether, 600 copies of each disc were pressed with the intention of being sold individually. However, due to strong demand for all three, a set consisting of an obi-style horizontal slipcase enclosing the three discs was created and limited to 320 copies. Boris (band)
is a Japanese band formed in 1992 in Tokyo and composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. All three members contribute vocals. Boris has released more than twenty studio albums on various labels around the world, as well as a wide variety of live albums, compilations, EPs, singles, and collaborative albums. They have collaborated with acts such as Sunn O))), Merzbow, Keiji Haino, and guitarist Michio Kurihara. History Boris was originally a four-piece band with Atsuo on lead vocals, Wata on guitar, Takeshi on bass, and Nagata on drums. ''Flood'' is the third album by Japanese experimental music, experimental band Boris (band), Boris, released on December 15, 2000. It consists of a single 70-minute title-track that is broken into four movements. While ''Flood'' did not receive many reviews upon release, it has become a cult classic among fans, prompting the band to play it in its entirety every night of their 2013 US-based "Residency Tour". ''Absolutego'' is the debut studio album by Japanese experimental band Boris. It was released in 1996 by Fangs Anal Satan. This album shows inspiration from the Melvins and, most prominently, Earth. Excluding the Merzbow collaboration ''Sun Baked Snow Cave'', it is the only "one-long-song" Boris album that is not broken down into multiple parts. A song with the same title also appears in the album ''Dear''. In 2001 Southern Lord Records re-released this album remastered and slowed down, with an alternative cover, and relabeled as ''Absolutego+ (Special Low Frequency Version)'' in homage to '' Earth 2''. This reissue included a bonus drone track recorded in 1997; its title would be reused 4 years later for an album also called '' Dronevil'' (a trend which continued with three albums titled ''Heavy Rocks,'' one in 2002, another in 2011, and a third in 2022) as well as for the original "Dronevil" song, a ''Heavy Rocks'' (2002) outtake released on the Mangrove 2002 compilation. Amplifier Worship
''Amplifier Worship'' is the second album by Japanese band Boris. Excluding the "one-long-song" albums, this is one of only two Boris full-lengths to have vocals on every song (the other being 2008's ''Smile''), and the first time that Takeshi performed lead vocals for the band (although Atsuo performs lead vocals on "Huge"). "Vomitself" was written and laid down separately at Sound Square while the other four songs were recorded at Sound Crew. According to Japanese production company FoodUnited, videos were shot for "Hama" and "Kuruimizu" but were not released to the public. The Southern Lord vinyl issue features new artwork but uses the same crossfading despite the track order change and the inability to segue across sides; these issues are solved either with new crossfades (the two songs on side A) or cut offs (the rest of the sides). Drone Doom
Drone metal or drone doom is a style of heavy metal that melds the slow tempos and heaviness of doom metal with the long-duration tones of drone music. Drone metal is sometimes associated with post-metal or experimental metal. Characteristics Typically, the electric guitar is performed with a large amount of reverb or audio feedback while vocals may or may not be present. Songs often lack beat or rhythm in the traditional sense and are typically very long. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands.
