Boreham Street
Boreham Street is a small village in the Wealden District, Wealden district of East Sussex, England. Its nearest towns are Hailsham, which lies approximately west of the village and Battle, which lies approximately to the east. A number of listed buildings line the village high street. Boreham Street sits atop a ridge with views south over the Pevensey Levels towards Normans Bay and the coast and to the north over open farmland. Wealden is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Nus Ghani, a Conservative. Ghani is the first Muslim woman to be elected as a Conservative member of Parliament. History This seat was created in the third periodic review of constituencies in 1983, from a mixture of the previous Mid and Northern divisions of East Sussex (also known as Lewes and East Grinstead). ;Political history The seat's history is that of a safe Conservative seat. Wartling
Wartling is a village and civil parish in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England, between Bexhill and Hailsham, ten miles (16 km) west of the latter at the northern edge of the Pevensey Levels. The parish includes Wartling itself and Boreham Street, two miles (3 km) north-east on the A271 road. Wartling is mentioned in the Domesday Book, when there was a chapel there. The current church, dedicated to St Mary Magdalene and linked with that at Herstmonceux, was built in the 13th century, probably on the same site as the chapel. Wealden District
Wealden is a local government district in East Sussex, England. Its council is based in Hailsham. The district's name comes from the Weald, the remnant forest which was once unbroken and occupies much of the centre and north of the area. History Wealden District was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by the merger of the Hailsham and Uckfield Rural District Councils (RDCs), both set up under the Local Government Act 1894, which also revived the parish councils. Governance Wealden District Council is elected every 4 years, with the Conservative party having had a majority on the council since the first election in 1973, apart from a couple of years after 1995 when no party had a majority.
