Bordeira
Bordeira is a Portuguese civil parish in the municipality of Aljezur. The population in 2011 was 432, in an area of 79.87 km². It lies within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, along the western coast of the Algarve in Faro District. The region, typical of the Algarve coastal areas, is dotted with many beaches, with the most important being the beaches of ''Praia do Amado'' and ''Praia da Bordeira'', which attract both local and tourist vacationers. It contains the village of Carrapateira. History Until 1837, the parishes of Carrapateira and Bordeira were actually separate ecclesiastical administrative divisions, of the neighbouring municipality of Vila do Bispo. When these two parishes were converted reallocated during the administrative reforms of Mouzinha de Silveira's government, they were integrated into one parish, and the parish transferred to the settlement of Bordeira which was more secular located in the interior. Carrapateira, Faro
Carrapateira is a village on the western coast of the Algarve, Portugal. Administratively, it is part of the civil parish of Bordeira, within the municipality of Aljezur, in the Faro District. Its landmarks include an old fort and a church. The nearby beaches are a popular surfing destination. Geography Carrapateira lies by road northwest of Lagos and northwest of Faro. It is located along the N268 road. To the northeast is the village of Bordeira while the village of Vilarinha lies to the southeast. A small stream named Ribeira da Carrapateira flows through the village, and it is surrounded by the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Vila do Bispo () is a municipality (''concelho'') in the Portuguese Algarve. It has 5,717 inhabitants in an area of 179.06 km2. History The first references to this region referred to the ''Aldeia do Bispo'' in the 14th century, in a charter dated 27 March 1329, and later, in 1353, a royal charter that promulgated the addition of the ''"locality that is called Bispo, which is in the Cape of Saint Vincent..."'', into the bishopric and domain/jurisdiction of Silves Municipality. Vila do Bispo is a former civil parish in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, in the southern Algarve, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Vila do Bispo e Raposeira. Geography The parish is divided into three areas: the north, composed of schist and carbon greywacke (dating to 360 Ma), the south, characterised by limestone deposits from the Jurassic period (200 Ma), and a narrow area that separates the two composed of reddish sandstones from the Triassic (230 Ma.), known as the ''Grés de Silves''. Aljezur is a parish (''freguesia'') in the municipality of Aljezur in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 3,365, in an area of 166.76 km².
