Sir John Boorman (; born 18 January 1933) is a British film director, best known for feature films such as ''Point Blank'' (1967), ''Hell in the Pacific'' (1968), ''Deliverance'' (1972), ''Zardoz'' (1974), '' Exorcist II: The Heretic'' (1977), ''Excalibur'' (1981), ''The Emerald Forest'' (1985), '' Hope and Glory'' (1987), '' The General'' (1998), ''The Tailor of Panama'' (2001) and '' Queen and Country'' (2014). Aimee Boorman (born Aimee Banghart; March 27, 1973) is an American artistic gymnastics coach. She coached 2016 Olympic champion and 2013-2015 world champion Simone Biles. She was the USA women's gymnastics team head coach at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She currently serves as an assistant coach for the Netherlands' women's gymnastic team. Early life Aimee Boorman was born and raised by a single mother in the Rogers Park area of Chicago. She began gymnastics classes with the Chicago Park District at age 6. To help earn money at age 13, she started coaching at the Lakeshore Gymnastics Club. She attended Lane Technical High School, which had a strong gymnastics program, where she excelled in floor exercises, winning the city championship in that event as a freshman. Reginald George Boorman (6 February 1935 – 30 October 2016) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. Early life and family Boorman served in the Malayan Emergency in 1957 with the New Zealand Army. His first marriage was to Carol McAlpine. His second marriage (in the 1980s) was to Pauline Moran. John Boorman (cricketer)
John Boorman (c. 1754 – 1 August 1807) was an English cricketer whose known career spanned 26 seasons from 1768 to 1793.Haygarth, p. 3. In ''Scores & Biographies'', Arthur Haygarth recorded that he found a reference to Boorman "in another account" (re a single wicket match in 1772) which called him James, but Haygarth was convinced that the correct name was John which recurred. Haygarth discovered that Boorman was "probably" born at Cranbrook in Kent but may have resided for many years at Sevenoaks, though he certainly died at Ashurst in Sussex, where he spent his latter years as a farmer. Boorman's year of birth is an estimate based on evidence found by Haygarth that he was 53 when he died and Haygarth made a comment that Boorman "began playing in great matches very young". James Boorman Colgate (March 4, 1818 – February 7, 1904), son of William Colgate and Mary Gilbert, was an American financier. Biography He was born in New York City and received his first training in the house of Boorman, Johnston, and Company. In 1852, he formed a partnership with John Bond Trevor and opened the banking house of Trevor and Colgate; this company dealt in stocks, securities and precious metals and regulated a large portion of the gold and paper exchange during the Civil War. Scott Archer Boorman (born February 1, 1949) is a mathematical sociologist at Yale University. Life His father, Howard L. Boorman, was a Foreign Service Officer in Beijing, China, and he was born there as Chinese Communists troops entered the city. He received no formal education before enrolling at Harvard College, and had largely completed work on his book, ''The Protracted Game'', which was published in 1971. Lieutenant-General Sir Derek Boorman (born 30 September 1930) is a retired former senior British Army officer. Military career Educated at Wolstanton Grammar School and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst,Debrett's People of Today 1994 Boorman was commissioned into the North Staffordshire Regiment in 1950. He was Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster General at Headquarters 48th Gurkha Infantry Brigade and subsequently Commander of 51st Brigade in Hong Kong. He was appointed Director of Military Operations at the Ministry of Defence in 1980 and Commander of British Forces in Hong Kong in 1982.
