Joel Thompson Boone
Joel Thompson Boone (August 29, 1889 – April 2, 1974) was a United States Navy officer who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during World War I. In addition to the Medal of Honor, Boone received the Army's Distinguished Service Cross and was awarded the Silver Star six times. These awards made Boone the most highly decorated medical officer in the history of the United States armed services. Early life Boone was born in St. Clair, Pennsylvania, on August 29, 1889. He was a cousin several times removed to Daniel Boone. He attended Mercersburg Academy and graduated in June 1913 from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. Ronald Bruce Boone (born September 6, 1946) is an American former professional basketball player. He had a 13-year career in the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association (NBA). Boone set a record for most consecutive games played in professional basketball history with 1,041 and claims to have never missed a game from when he started playing basketball in the fourth grade until his retirement. Boone is the current color commentator on Utah Jazz broadcasts. High school career Boone grew up in the Logan Fontenelle housing project and attended Technical High School in North Omaha, Nebraska. Richard Bently Boone
Richard Bently Boone (February 24, 1930 – February 8, 1999) was an American jazz trombonist and scat singer. Career Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Boone sang in a Baptist church choir as a boy, then began playing the trombone at the age of twelve. He served with the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1953 where he played trombone in a military band. Out of the Army, he returned to Little Rock to study music at Philander Smith College. In 1956 Boone moved to Los Angeles where he played in venues with Dolo Coker, Sonny Criss, and Dexter Gordon. Boone worked in the backup band for Della Reese between 1962 and 1966 then became a member of the Count Basie band. A few years later he left Basie and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, performing with the Ernie Wilkins Big Band. Levi Day Boone (December 6, 1808 – January 24, 1882) served as mayor of Chicago, Illinois (1855–1856) for the American Party (Know-Nothings). Early life Boone was born near Lexington, Kentucky, the seventh son of Squire and Anna Grubbs Boone. Squire Boone, Sr. was Daniel Boone's father and Levi Boone's great-grandfather, making Levi Boone Daniel Boone's great-nephew.
