''Bookmarks'' is the sixth studio album by American singer Five for Fighting. It was released on September 17, 2013, by Wind-up Records. The album's first single, "What If", was released on June 11, 2013. Background After his previous album '' Slice'' was released in 2009, Ondrasik was uncertain about his future music career. He decided to record ''Bookmarks'' after restoring his passion for music while training for a marathon. Recording ''Bookmarks'' was produced by Derek Fuhrmann and Gregg Wattenberg. Wattenberg previously worked with American rock band Train and ''American Idol'' season 11 winner Phillip Phillips. Ondrasik and Wattenberg previously worked together for Ondrasik's 2000 album ''America Town''. While recording, both of them tried out various genres and drum rhythms. Five For Fighting
Vladimir John Ondrasik III (born January 7, 1965), also known by his stage name Five for Fighting, is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. He is best known for his piano-based soft rock ballads, such as the top 40 hits "Superman (It's Not Easy)" (2001), " 100 Years" (2003) " The Riddle" (2006). He also had a string of moderate hits on the adult contemporary charts in the late 2000s and into the 2010s, including "World" (2006) and " Chances" (2009). Ondrasik has recorded six studio albums, one EP, and several live albums as Five for Fighting. Ondrasik's song "Superman" was nominated for a Grammy in 2002. Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music. Wind-up Entertainment was an American independent record label founded by Alan and Diana Meltzer in 1997. It was based in New York City and was distributed by BMG Distribution. Wind-up's best-selling artists worldwide were Creed and Evanescence. History Wind-up Records was formed in 1997 by Alan Meltzer, former owner of CD One Stop, and his wife Diana Meltzer, following their 1996 purchase of Grass Records. The parent company Wind-up Entertainment also runs numerous publishing companies as well as a full-scale retail, online and tour merchandising company. ''Slice'' is the fifth studio album by American singer Five for Fighting, released on October 13, 2009 by Aware Records and Wind-up Records. In May 2009, Ondrasik posted on his Myspace blog that the name of his forthcoming record will be taken from fan suggestions, and will be subsequently voted on to determine the winning album title. The first single from the new album, called "Chances", was released on July 21, 2009, as a digital download. It also debuted on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart at number 83 and at number 12 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart on the week ending October 31, 2009. "Chances" can also be heard in the end credits of the 2009 film, '' The Blind Side''. It can also be heard in the first promotional commercial video of ''Idol'' in season 10. Train is an American pop rock band from San Francisco which was formed in 1993. ''America Town'' is the second studio album by American pop rock artist Five for Fighting. It was released by Aware Records, a Columbia Records subsidiary, in 2000. It contains two of his most well-known songs, " Easy Tonight" and the Grammy-nominated "Superman (It's Not Easy)". Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence.
