Jean-François Bony (24 February 1754 – 1825) was a French painter, draftsman, embroiderer, silk manufacturer, and flower painter. A talented artist, his designs include studies of a dress and mantle proposed for the wearing of Josephine de Beauharnais at the coronation of Napoleon. Bony was active before, during and after the French Revolution, also designing fabrics for Marie Antoinette, Empress Marie Louise and Napoleon himself. Life Jean-François Bony was born on 24 February 1754 in Givors. He was the son of Nicolas Bony, a master baker, and Antoinette Mussieux. He was apprenticed to Nicolas Peillon, and then began his training at the (School of Art and Design in Lyon) at the age of 25. The École was designed to aid Lyon's silk trade. Political career Bony has been mayor of the commune of Ally in the Cantal department since March 2001 and vice-president of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Salers, created in 2004. He is also president of the Ally/ Escorailles/Brageac Syndicat des Eaux (water company) and president of the retirement home of Ally. A general councillor in Cantal, representing the Canton de Pleaux, he was the eighth vice-president of the Cantal General Council. Having begun his career at Issia Wazi, Bony moved to Sparta Prague in 2007, helping them to the Czech First League title in 2009–10. Jean-Michel Bony (born 1 February 1942 in Paris) is a French mathematician, specializing in mathematical analysis. He is known for his work on microlocal analysis and pseudodifferential operators. Education and career Bony completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the École Normale Supérieure, where he received his Ph.D in 1972 with thesis advisor Gustave Choquet. Bony became a professor at the University of Paris-Sud and is now a professor at the École Polytechnique. His doctoral students include Jean-Yves Chemin. Research Bony's research deals with microlocal analysis, partial differential equations and potential theory. In 1981 he published important results on paradifferential operators, extending the theory of pseudifferential operators published by Ronald Coifman and Yves Meyer in 1979. Detective Inspector Napoleon "Bony" Bonaparte is a fictional character created by Australian novelist Arthur Upfield (1890–1964). Bony is a biracial Aboriginal Australian detective with a reputation for solving difficult cases by finding subtle clues.
