Bonny Campbell
Hugh "Bonny" Campbell (1 March 1898 – 28 April 1987) was an Australian rules footballer who played 188 West Australian Football League (WAFL) games and kicked 630 goals. He was a star full forward in the WAFL, a regular West Australian interstate representative, and famously for kicked 23 goals in a game for Western Australia against Queensland at the 1924 Hobart Carnival. Football Campbell played school football for Kingston ex-Scholars in the North Fremantle area. After playing for Kingston in a curtain raiser to a 1915 WAFL match between North Fremantle and South Fremantle, he offered to back up and play the senior game for North Fremantle, which was one man short. He played with North Fremantle for much of the rest of the season, after which the club folded. Playing as a half back flanker he helped South Fremantle to win back to back premierships in 1916 and 1917. North Fremantle Football Club
The North Fremantle Football Club was an Australian rules football club which competed in the West Australian Football League from 1901 to 1915. North Fremantle started out in the First Rate Junior Association, the state's second tier competition. They were premiers in 1897 and four years later were admitted, along with Subiaco, into the Western Australian Football Association (later renamed the West Australian Football League). In preparation for their inaugural WAFA season, North Fremantle signed three East Fremantle players who had been members of the 1900 premiership side. Briefly in 1902, North sat on top of the WAFA ladder after beating East Fremantle by 22 points in their local derby. They however never made it to a Grand Final in the league, despite winning more games than they lost in their initial seasons. Punt (Australian Football)
The punt kick is a common style of kicking in Australian rules football. It is a kick where the ball is dropped from the players' hands and kicked slightly off the longer center line of the ball before it hits the ground. It is the primary means of kicking the ball in Australian football and is similar to punts used tactically in other football codes, such as American and Canadian football. There are different styles of kicking depending on how the ball is held in the hand. The most common style of kicking seen in today's game, principally because of its superior accuracy, is the drop punt, where the ball is dropped from the hands down, almost to the ground, to be kicked so that the ball rotates in a reverse end over end motion as it travels through the air. 1927 Melbourne Carnival
The 1927 Melbourne Carnival was the sixth Australian National Football Carnival: an Australian rules football interstate competition. New South Wales caused the biggest upset of the carnival when they defeated Tasmania by three points and, also, came close to beating Western Australia. Victoria again finished on top of the table. Participating teams Queensland Queensland did not send a team to the Carnival. Victorian Football Association
The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. For historical purposes, the present-day VFL is referred to as the VFA/VFL, to distinguish it from the present-day Australian Football League, which in turn was known until 1990 as the Victorian Football League and is thus referred to as the VFL/AFL. George Gough
Daniel George Gough (18 March 1900 – 15 April 1952) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). George Gough was one of these schoolboys who would one day be a competent footballer, he started as a youngster playing with the Croxton I.O.R. junior team, till 1918, when he came of age and transferred to Preston in the V.J.F.A. competition. Fitzroy recruited him the following year. Gough, a small forward, had the first of two separate stints in the VFL. He played mainly as a half-forward and rover but after three seasons he had enough of Fitzroy's coach so he crossed over to play for his local VFA side, Northcote. He then turned out for Northcote playing at full forward. In his third season he topped the league's goal-kicking with 83 goals. Bos Daly
Anthony Joseph "Bos" Daly (9 January 1874 – 21 August 1942) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the five teams in the South Australian Football Association (SAFA) between 1893 and 1912. Family He is the brother of John "Bunny" Daly, who was also inducted in the South Australian Football Hall of Fame. Football In 1893, whilst playing for Norwood, he set a record for the most goals kicked by a player in a single game of elite football, which has been equaled but remains unbeaten to date. Daly kicked 23 of Norwood's 29 goals in a 27-goal win over Adelaide (unrelated to the modern-day AFL team). However, due to the visitors being unable to field a full team, the game was played with fourteen players per side instead of the normal twenty of the time. Queensland Australian Rules Football Team
Australian rules football in Queensland (typically referred to as "AFL", or less frequently "Australian Football", "Aussie Rules" or "Australian Rules") was the first official football code played in 1866.
