Bonner L. Stiller
Bonner Lee Stiller (born May 10, 1956) is an attorney from Oak Island, North Carolina. He was born in Southport, North Carolina. He was a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's seventeenth House district, including constituents in Brunswick and New Hanover counties. In 2002, Stiller surprisingly unseated long-serving Representative David Redwine, a 10-term member of the General Assembly and co-chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Stiller defeated Redwine for a second time to gain re-election to a second term and defeated Democratic Real Estate Commission chairperson Allan Dameron to win a subsequent term. Oak Island is a seaside town located in the southeastern corner of North Carolina, United States. Part of Brunswick County, North Carolina, Brunswick County, the major portion of the town is on Oak Island (North Carolina), Oak Island which it shares with Caswell Beach, North Carolina, Caswell Beach. The North Carolina House of Representatives is one of the two houses of the North Carolina General Assembly. The House is a 120-member body led by a Speaker of the House, who holds powers similar to those of the President pro-tem in the North Carolina Senate. Southport is a city in Brunswick County, North Carolina, United States, near the mouth of the Cape Fear River. Its population was 3,828 as of the 2018 census. The mayor is Joseph P. Hatem. Southport is the location of the North Carolina Fourth of July Festival, which attracts 40,000 to 50,000 visitors annually. History The Southport area was explored in the 1500s by Spanish explorers. During the 18th century, British settlements along the Carolina coast lacked fortifications to protect against pirates and privateers, and numerous Spanish attackers exploited this weakness.
