Bonita Vista High School
Bonita Vista High School (BVH) is a public, four-year (grade levels 9–12) high school located in the city of Chula Vista, California. It is part of the Sweetwater Union High School District, and offers both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. The mascot is a Baron. History Bonita Vista High School opened in fall 1966 at a construction cost of $2.5 million. A student committee chose the Baron mascot over a Patriot and a Crusader. Academics The school is placed as the number 1 school of the Sweetwater Union High School District, with an Academic Performance Index score of 851 for the 2011 school year, meeting the statewide standard and exceeding amongst other schools in the same district. Chula Vista (; ) is the second-largest city in the San Diego metropolitan area, the Largest cities in Southern California, seventh largest city in Southern California, the List of largest California cities by population, fifteenth largest city in the state of California, and the List of United States cities by population, 78th-largest city in the United States. Soundgarden
Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil (both of whom are the only members to appear in every incarnation of the band), and bassist Hiro Yamamoto; Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985, replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist, and later by Matt Cameron in 1986. Yamamoto left in 1990 and was replaced initially by Jason Everman and shortly thereafter by Ben Shepherd. The band dissolved in 1997 and re-formed in 2010. Following Cornell's death in 2017 and a year of uncertainty regarding the band's future, Thayil declared in October 2018 that Soundgarden had disbanded once again, though they did reunite in January 2019 for a one-off concert in tribute to Cornell. Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. John Macaulay (American Football)
John Dunn Macaulay (born April 27, 1959) is a physician and former American football Center (American football), center who played two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the eleventh round of the 1982 NFL Draft. Macaulay played college football at Stanford University and attended Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista, California. He was a member of the San Francisco 49ers team that won Super Bowl XIX. Jennifer Lalor
Jennifer Ann Nielsen (; born September 5, 1974) is an American retired soccer midfielder and former member of the United States women's national soccer team. In 2012, she was nominated for entry into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Life Born in Chula Vista, California, Lalor attended Bonita Vista High School and helped the soccer team to two undefeated seasons and clinch two Metro League titles. She opted not to play high school soccer during her junior and senior years and instead played for the Southern California Blues club team. Guido Joel Knudson (; born August 5, 1989) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers. Early life Prior to playing professionally, Knudson attended Bonita Vista High School and then the University of California, San Diego. During his tenure at the university, he pitched for the North Adams SteepleCats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League and he also played for the Woodstock River Bandits of the Valley Baseball League, earning an All-Star selection in 2009. Shirley Horton
Shirley Grasser Horton (July 17, 1952) is a Japanese–American politician who served as the 37th mayor of Chula Vista, California, and in the California State Assembly as a member of the Republican Party. Horton was born in Japan and educated in California at Bonita Vista High School and San Diego State University. In the 1980s she served as the president of the South San Diego Bay Cities Board of Realtors before becoming active in local politics in Chula Vista when she was appointed to the city's planning commission. In 1991, she was selected to fill Tim Nader's seat and was later elected mayor in 1994. David Garza (Paralympic Footballer)
David Garza (born April 24, 1993) is an American Paralympic soccer player. He attended California State University Dominguez Hills, and was involved in a car accident in his freshman year that left him with permanent paralysis on part of his body. An active sportsperson, he was a two-sport athlete at Bonita Vista High School, playing boys varsity volleyball and soccer. He also played club soccer for the Chula Vista Rangers. He earned a spot on the California State University Dominguez Hills team, redshirting his freshman year. Garza was with the United States Paralympic National Team in 2012, playing with the team at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Byron Arthur Frisch (born December 17, 1976) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. Hannah Irene Flippen (born March 7, 1995) is an American softball player. She played college softball at the University of Utah, where she was a three-time All-American. Flippen is a member of for the United States women's national softball team, and competed at the 2017 World Cup of Softball. She was also chosen to play for the 2018 Japan All-Star Series and World Cup of Softball team.
