''Boned!'' is the seventh and final album released by The Twelfth Man. ''Boned!'' was released on 2 December 2006 it reached number one on the ARIA Album Charts for one week in December 2006. The album's title ''Boned!'' comes from the press reaction to the Mark Llewellyn affidavit that revealed that the then Channel 9 Television CEO Eddie McGuire wanted to sack, or "bone" then-'' Today'' presenter Jessica Rowe. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2007, the album was nominated for ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release losing to ''Live'' by Dave Hughes. The album was nominated for Highest Selling Album losing to '' The Winner's Journey'' by Damien Leith. The Twelfth Man
The Twelfth Man (also known as The 12th Man) is the name for a series of comedy productions by Australian satirist Billy Birmingham. Birmingham, a skilled impersonator, is generally known for parodying Australian sports commentators' voices. As befits the name (a reference to the non-playing reserve in an eleven-player cricket side), Birmingham focused in particular on cricket commentators such as Richie Benaud, Bill Lawry, Ian Chappell and Tony Greig. This is also because many of Australia's cricket commentators have distinctive and easily identifiable voices and accents. The album parodies are designed as a comical look "behind the scenes" of the Nine Network's cricket commentary. Birmingham traditionally plays all the roles (with the exception of Ken Sutcliffe, who played himself; and some minor female characters, such as Richie Benaud's secretary). ''The Box Set'' is a Box set, including all 7 of The Twelfth Man's albums. The set was released in November 2009 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first Twelfth Man release. The set peaked at number 17 on the ARIA Charts. The box set is notably missing "It's Just Not Cricket", his debut release. Also, Bruce 2000 appears twice on the set, ending both Wired World Of Sports albums as it had been included on their 2000 reissues. Background and release Birmingham's career in comedy began when he wrote Austen Tayshus' hit "Australiana" in 1983. In 1984, Birmingham released "It's Just Not Cricket" under the name The Twelfth Man. It became the first of two Twelfth Man singles to reach number 1 on the singles chart. ''The Final Dig?'' is the sixth album released by The Twelfth Man, released on 3 December 2001 by EMI Music, the album peaked at number one on the Australian ARIA Chart for five-week between December 2001 and January 2002. At the 2002 ARIA Music Awards of 2002, the album won the ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release. Story Richie Benaud decides to retire. Channel 9 Commentary Team Selection Committee has to choose a new Commentary Team Captain for when Richie Benaud retires to his vineyard estate, 'Chateau Verdaflore', in the South of France. In the running for the Captain are all the current commentary team of Bill Lawry, Tony Greig, Mark 'Tubby' Taylor, Ian Healy and Ian Chappell. Graham Alan Gooch, (born 23 July 1953) is a former English first-class cricketer who captained Essex and England. John Howard
John Winston Howard (born 26 July 1939) is an Australian former politician who served as the 25th prime minister of Australia from 1996 to 2007, holding office as leader of the Liberal Party. Anthony William Greig (6 October 194629 December 2012) was a South African-born Test cricket captain turned commentator. Greig qualified to play for the England cricket team by virtue of his Scottish parentage. He was a tall () all-rounder who bowled both medium pace and off spin. Greig was captain of England from 1975 to 1977, and captained Sussex. His younger brother, Ian, also played Test cricket, while several other members of his extended family played at first-class level. Michael Solomon Gudinski AM (22 August 1952 – 2 March 2021) was an Australian record executive and promoter who was a leading figure in the Australian music industry. The WACA (formally the WACA Ground) is a sports stadium in Perth, Western Australia. The stadium's name derives from the initials of its owners and operators, the Western Australian Cricket Association. Richie Benaud
Richard Benaud (; 6 October 1930 – 10 April 2015) was an Australian cricketer who, after his retirement from international cricket in 1964, became a highly regarded commentator on the game. Benaud was a Test cricket all-rounder, blending leg spin bowling with lower-order batting aggression. Along with fellow bowling all-rounder Alan Davidson, he helped restore Australia to the top of world cricket in the late 1950s and early 1960s after a slump in the early 1950s. In 1958 he became Australia's Test captain until his retirement in 1964. He became the first player to reach 200 wickets and 2,000 runs in Test cricket, arriving at that milestone in 1963.
