Bondamunda
Bondamunda is a part of city of Rourkela and a it's municipality. Railway developments Bondamunda railway station (IR Station code:BNDM) is an important railway station under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is a station on the Tatanagar–Bilaspur section of Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line. It connects Sini, Jharkhand, Sini and Chakardharpur on east direction, Ranchi Junction, Ranchi, Hatia on north direction, Jharsuguda railway station, Jharsuguda on south direction and Barsuan and Bimlagarh on south direction. Asia's second largest railway yard is located here. Bondamunda Railway Station
Bondamunda railway station (station code:- BNDM), located in the Indian state of Odisha, serves Bondamunda and Rourkela in Sundergarh district. History The Nagpur–Asansol main line of Bengal Nagpur Railway came up in 1891 and the cross-country Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line started functioning in 1900. After independence of India, this area saw a lot of activity. In the 1950s when Rourkela Steel Plant was being constructed, a marshalling yard was set up at Bondamunda to cater to the requirements of bulk transportation. New lines were added. A line was constructed to establish a direct link with Ranchi Junction, Ranchi. Bondamunda was connected to Barsuan iron ore mines in 1960 and the line was extended to Kiriburu in 1964. The marshalling yard is the second largest in India. Bondamunda was electrified in the year between 1961–62. Rourkela
Rourkela is a planned city located in the northern district Sundargarh of Odisha, India. It is the third-largest Urban Agglomeration in Odisha after Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. South Eastern Railway Zone
The South Eastern Railway (abbreviated SER) is one of the 19 railway zones in India and Part of Eastern Railways. It is headquartered at Garden Reach, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Tatanagar–Bilaspur Section
The Tatanagar–Bilaspur section is part of the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line and connects in the Indian state of Jharkhand and in Chhattisgarh. Part of one of the major trunk lines in the country, it passes through an industrial-mining area and handles high volumes of freight, particularly coal and iron ore. Geography The Tatanagar–Bilaspur section of Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line passes through the Saranda forest on the Chota Nagpur Plateau in southern Jharkhand. The area through which it passes includes portions of northern Odisha and northern Chhattisgarh, with topography similar to that of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. It is generally forested area amidst hills alternating with valleys. Chakradharpur is a city in West Singhbhum district in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is the railway divisional headquarters of Chakradharpur (CKP) division of the South Eastern Railway.
