Bonafide (Jon B Album)
''Bonafide'' is the debut album by Jon B. It was released on May 23, 1995, on the Epic Records subsidiary 550 Music. The album was the first recording released on Tracey Edmonds' record label Yab Yum Records, which 550 Music distributed. It includes the Grammy-nominated first single " Someone to Love" featuring Babyface. The song was originally featured on the soundtrack to the 1995 Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action-comedy '' Bad Boys''. Also included is the second single " Pretty Girl" and the final single "Isn't It Scary". ''Bonafide'' was a favorite of rapper Tupac Shakur. The two met each other by way of a mutual friend on the set of Shakur's video " How Do U Want It", which prompted them to work together. The end result was the collaboration "Are U Still Down", which appeared on Jon's following album ''Cool Relax''. The album was certified Gold. Jonathan David Buck (born November 11, 1974) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer. His debut album, ''Bonafide'' (1995), went platinum. Early life Born in Providence, Rhode Island, United States and raised in Altadena, California, Buck comes from a musical family; with his father David, a professor of music, his mother Linda, a concert pianist and his siblings Deborah, a violinist and his brother Kevin, a cellist. His mother is Jewish and his father is Puerto Rican. In 1992, Jon B. was shopping demos when he caught the attention of Tracey Edmonds, then-president and CEO of Yab-Yum Records. "How Do U Want It" is a song by American rapper 2Pac from his fourth studio album, ''All Eyez on Me'' (1996). It was released on June 4, 1996 as a double a-sided single with "California Love" from the same album and was his final single to be released during his lifetime. The song features R&B duo K-Ci & JoJo, who at the time were best known as the lead singers of the group Jodeci. The song reached number one on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number seventeen in the UK in 1996. The song received a Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group Grammy nomination in 1997. Lakeside is an American funk band, best known for their 1980 number one R&B hit, "Fantastic Voyage". Band history Formation and early years In 1969, guitarist Stephen Shockley from Dayton, Ohio formed a group called the Young Underground after he had departed a group known as the Monterreys. Vocalist Mark Woods, who was a member of another local band called the Nomads, joined up with Shockley's band. Jeffery Deon Estus (July 4, 1956 – October 11, 2021) was an American musician and singer, best known as the bass player of Wham! and as the bassist on George Michael's first two solo projects. Estus' single "Heaven Help Me", with additional vocals by George Michael, reached No. 5 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in 1989. Early life Estus was born in Detroit on July 4, 1956.
