Bolland, German noble, nobility with French origin. The ancestry comes from the Frenchman Pierre de la Bollánd, the councilor at the court who later fled from France to Germany in 1614. ''Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions'' is a satirical novella by the English schoolmaster Edwin Abbott Abbott, first published in 1884 by Seeley & Co. of London. Written pseudonymously by "A Square", the book used the fictional two-dimensional world of Flatland to comment on the hierarchy of Victorian culture, but the novella's more enduring contribution is its examination of dimensions. Several films have been made from the story, including the feature film ''Flatland'' (2007). William Bolland
Sir William Bolland (1772–1840), lawyer and bibliophile, the eldest son of James Bolland, of Southwark, was educated at Reading School under Dr. Valpy, and admitted a pensioner at Trinity College, Cambridge on 26 September 1789, at the age of seventeen. During his school days he wrote several prologues and epilogues for the annual dramatic performances in which the scholars took part, and for which Dr. Valpy's pupils were famous. At Cambridge he took his degree of BA in 1794, and MA in 1797. Bolland & Bolland are two Dutch music producers and brothers, Rob Bolland (born 17 April 1955) and Ferdi Bolland (born on 5 August 1956). They were born in Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Career They produced and wrote for such artists as Falco (including his Number 1 hit "Rock Me Amadeus"), Samantha Fox ("Love House"), and wrote the Status Quo hit " In the Army Now" – which they released under their own name in 1981 and which was also recorded by Gerard Joling. Philip Christopher Bolland (born 26 August 1976) is an English former footballer, who played as a centre back. Career Bolland enjoyed two spells at Chester City, having signed from Peterborough United in the summer of 2006 – just a few months after he'd moved in the opposite direction. Mark Wright has managed him at the four clubs he has been in charge of, namely Southport, Oxford, Chester and Peterborough.
