Bolkiah Garrison
Bolkiah Garrison () also sometimes referred to as Bolkiah Camp, is one of the military bases in Mukim Berakas 'A', Bandar Seri Begawan, and serves as the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). International defence collaborations, meetings and bilateral exercises are planned and considered within this military base. History The Training Institute of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (TI RBAF) was established on 7 April 1969, but it would later be relocated to Penanjong Garrison in 1991. At the Bolkiah Garrison, the Second Battalion was organized on 2 January 1975, and temporarily based there until the completion of the Tutong Camp in Tutong town, Tutong District on 10 May 1976. As of 1995, there was a small garrison based at Bolkiah Camp alongside British commanding officers to provide training the local soldiers. Mukim Berakas 'A'
Mukim Berakas 'A' is a mukim in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei. The population was 27,223 in 2016. Background The mukim and Mukim Berakas 'B' were originally one mukim by the name 'Mukim Berakas' before being split into the current divisions in 1996. Geography The mukim borders the South China Sea to the north, Mukim Mentiri and Mukim Berakas 'B' to the east, Mukim Kianggeh to the south, Mukim Gadong 'B' to the south-west and Mukim Gadong 'A' to the west. Demographics As of 2016 census, the population of Mukim Berakas 'A' comprised 14,193 males and 13,030 females. The mukim had 5,186 households occupying 5,071 dwellings. Tutong Camp
Tutong Camp (), also sometimes referred to as in Malay, ''Tutong Kem'', is one of the military bases of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) and it is also home to the Second Battalion (2Bn). The RBLF have two garrisons of army and military police stationed in the Tutong District, namely the Tutong and Penanjong Camp as well as a shooting range in Binturan. It can be noted that the camp was previously referred to as Royal Brunei Malay Regiment (RBMR) Camp, Tutong. In 2016, the population was 1,099. History The base was completed by late April 1976 and later on May 10, 1976, the 2Bn officially moved into Tutong Camp after being temporarily based at Bolkiah Camp. A total of 6 blocks of flats within the camp were scheduled to be completed on November 26, 1978. Surau
A surau is an Islamic assembly building in some regions of Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula used for worship and religious instruction. Generally smaller physical structures, its ritual functions are similar to a mosque, allow men and women, and are used more for religious instruction and festive prayers. They depend more on grassroots support and funding. They can be compared to the Arab zawiya. British Forces Brunei (BFB) is the name given to the British Armed Forces presence in Brunei. Tutong District
Tutong District (; Jawi: دائيره توتوڠ) or simply Tutong is one of the four districts of Brunei. It has an area of ; the population was 48,313 in 2016. The administrative town is Pekan Tutong. It is home to Tasek Merimbun, the country's largest natural lake. Penanjong Garrison
Kampong Penanjong is a village in Tutong District, Brunei, on the outskirts of the district town Pekan Tutong. The population was 2,065 in 2016. It is one of the villages within Mukim Pekan Tutong, a mukim in the district. Facilities Penanjong Primary School is the village primary school; it was established in 1936. There is also Penanjong Religious School which is the village school for the primary level of the country's Islamic religious education.
