bolexbrothers (alternatively Bolex Brothers) was an independent British animation studio founded by Dave Borthwick and Dave Alex Riddett in Bristol, UK. The studio specialised in stop motion and pixilation animation, producing numerous short films and commercials, as well as two feature films, ''The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb'' (1993) and ''The Magic Roundabout'', (2005). The studio was named after the Bolex brand of 16mm cameras once popular with animators and was first established as a collective of artists in the 1980s before becoming a company in 1991 and running to roughly 2008. The studio's films were often dark and surrealistic, described by Borthwick as presenting “a reality that's just slightly sideways”. Their films often employed experimental or uncommon animation techniques such as pixilation (posing and shooting live actors frame-by-frame). Chris Hopewell
Chris Hopewell is an English music video and film director and print maker. He has directed videos for Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Scissor Sisters, Run the Jewels, Louis XIV, The Knife, The Offspring, Avenged Sevenfold, and several others. His video for Radiohead's "There There" received an award for art direction at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Startled Insects, later known as The Insects, are an instrumental English pop-jazz band. History Startled Insects began around 1983 in Bristol, England, as a collective of three producers/multi-instrumentalists, Tim Norfolk, Bob Locke and Richard Grassby-Lewis. Little information has ever been published about the band – the participants' names did not appear on any of the album sleeves, nor were any pictures ever published. He lives in London and is represented by production company Passion Pictures, having worked previously independently and for Aardman Animations.
