Bolette Berg
Bolette Berg (1872–1944) was a Norwegian photographer. She and her partner Marie Høeg ran a photography studio, ''Berg & Høeg Fotoatelier'', in Horten is a town and municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway—located along the Oslofjord. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Horten. The municipality also includes the town of Åsgårdstrand an ..., a busy naval port in the southeast of Norway. At the time photography was immensely fashionable for those rich enough to afford it, and the two made their money selling portraits and landscapes of their surroundings. Their studio was used not just for their work, however, but also as a meeting place for women that was free from the judgement and strict social cues of society at the time. Marie Høeg
Marie Høeg (15 April 1866 – 22 February 1949) was a Norwegians, Norwegian photographer and Suffragette, suffragist. Høeg's published work was traditional in nature, while her private photography, including images of and created with her partner, Bolette Berg, challenged ideas of gender. She was the founder of the Horten Discussion Association, which is still active today. Høeg also started the Horten Branch of the National Association for Women's Suffrage (Norway), National Association for Women's Right to Vote, the Horten Women's Council and the Horten Tuberculosis Association. Biography Høeg was born in Langesund on 15 April 1866. She was a photography student in Brevik, Norway, Brevik and completed her photography apprenticeship in 1890. Horten
is a town and municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway—located along the Oslofjord. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Horten. The municipality also includes the town of Åsgårdstrand and the villages of Borre, Skoppum, and Nykirke. The town of Horten was separated from the municipality of Borre to become a municipality of its own in 1858. The neighboring municipalities of Borre and Horten were merged back together on 1 January 1988. The name of the new united municipality was first ''Borre'', but after a referendum it was changed to ''Horten'' on 1 June 2002. The local newspaper in Horten is named Gjengangeren, and covers mostly local news. It is also available online (see external links section).
