As historical administrative subdivisions of Poland, districts existed in the later part of the Congress Poland period, from 1842, when the name was applied to the former countiess. Districts were also created temporarily from 1945 to 1946, in the areas annexed to Poland from Germany as a result of the Soviet military advance. A district was then subdivided into obwódy. Duchy of Wieluń was a District duchy, district principality and a fiefdom within the Kingdom of Poland (1025–1385), Kingdom of Poland. Bolesławiec, Łódź Voivodeship
Bolesławiec is a village in Wieruszów County, Łódź Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Bolesławiec. It lies approximately south of Wieruszów and south-west of the regional capital Łódź. The village has an approximate population of 900. History The town and castle were founded by Duke of Greater Poland Bolesław the Pious of the Piast dynasty. The town was named after him. The castle was captured by King John of Bohemia, but was regained by Polish King Casimir III the Great in 1335. Casimir III then partially rebuilt and strengthened the castle. During the Swedish invasion of Poland of 1655–1660, it was captured by the Swedes, however, it was later renovated by local starost Jan Radziejowski. Wieluń Land
The Wieluń Land ( pl, Ziemia Wieluńska; Latin: ''Terra Velumensis''), originally known as the Ruda Land (Polish: ''ziemia rudzka''; Latin: ''terra Rudensis'', ''territorium Rudense''), was a land of the Kingdom of Poland and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, which for centuries was part of Sieradz Voivodeship, Province of Greater Poland.
