Tolikara Regency
Tolikara Regency is one of the regencies (''kabupaten'') in the Indonesian province of Highland Papua. It covers an area of 14,564 km2, and had a population of 114,427 at the 2010 Census and 239,543 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 242,293. The administrative centre of Tolikara Regency is the town of Karubaga. Administrative Districts Tolikara Regency in 2010 comprised 35 districts (''distrik''), but the number of districts was increased (by 2018) to 46, subdivided into 545 administrative villages. The districts are tabulated below with their areas and their populations at the 2010 Census and the 2020 Census, together with the official estimates as at mid 2021. Highland Papua ( id, Papua Pegunungan) is a province of Indonesia, which roughly follows the borders of Papuan customary region of Lano-Pago, shortened to La Pago. The Indonesian Archipelago geographically stretches across four time zones from UTC+06:00 in Aceh to UTC+09:00 in Papua. Wamena Airport
Wamena Airport ( id, Bandar Udara Wamena) is an airport serving the town of Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, Highland Papua, Indonesia. The airport also serves the neighboring Lanny Jaya Regency and Tolikara Regency. It is currently the only airport in the highland region of Papua that can accommodate narrow-body aircraft such as the Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and C-130 Hercules. Improvement Recently, a new terminal was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. The new terminal, which resembles the traditional Papuan home ''honai'', was inaugurated on 30 December 2015. The new terminal which has an area of 4.000 m2 replaced the old run-down terminal which only has an area of 965 m2. Moreover, the runway is also being extended from 2,175 m to 2,400 m.
