Bokaro And Kargali Area
Bokaro and Kargali Area is one of the operational areas of the Central Coalfields Limited located mainly in the Bokaro district and partly in the Giridih district, both in the state of Jharkhand, India. The projects of Bokaro and Kargali Area are: Bokaro open cast, Kargali open cast, Kargali underground, Karo open cast, Karo underground, Khas Mahal open cast, Khas Mahal underground, Karo Special underground, Giridih open cast, Kabribad open cast, Kargali washery. The area office is at Kargali, PO Bermo 829104. Mining activity Mines and projects Bokaro opencast project, designed in 2013-14 for a rated annual capacity of 0.7 million tonnes, is located in the East Bokaro Coalfield, north of the Damodar River. Kargali colliery is a very old colliery, started in 1918 as an underground mine by the Great Indian Peninsular Railway. East Bokaro Coalfield is located in Bokaro district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. Overview In 1917, L.S.S. O’Malley described the coalfields in the upper reaches of the Damodar as follows: “Near the western boundary of Jharia field is that of Bokaro, covering , with an estimated content of 1,500 million tons; close by… is the Ramgarh field , in which, however, coal is believed to be of inferior quality. Gomia
Gomia (also spelled as Gumia) is a census town in the Gomia CD block in the Bermo subdivision of the Bokaro district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The modern name is a transformation of ''Gumia'' over the years. Though, today, it is still listed as ''Gumia'' by the South Eastern Railway (India) (station code GMIA). History Gomia took shape around the year 1956, when the Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI as its popularly known as), set up a commercial explosives (IEL) factory there. It was developed together a residential colony to house the 3500 employees that would work in the factory.
